I keep putting this off and putting this off because I am finding it difficult too deal with mentally/emotionally but anyway here goes
It started back at the start of december when I developed swelling, during december I was checked out 3 times because the swelling was so bad, but each time I was just sent on my merry way
At new year we went too my parents and well the swelling was so bad I couldn't really walk or move my ankles, bend my knees or anything. I could hardly look after myself never mind little man so me & little man ended up staying at my parents after new year so they could help out with little man while hubby was at work
on the 12th Jan I had a 32 week appointment at the hospital, I went feeling totally crappy and sore because of the swelling. They checked my urine and it had 3+ protein & 3+ blood in, they got me too re do it too double check and it came back the same, they did my blood pressure and it was 145/110 so I was sent straight up too antenatal ward where they took blood
Well it all went down hill from there, with each blood result that came back the situation changed, first they said 'lets keep baby in as long as possible' then it was 'lets aim for 2 weeks' then 'lets aim for 1 week' then 'lets get too 48 hours' and finally 'this baby WILL be born in 24 hours as soon as steroids are on board!' this was all in the space of 2 hours! I was diagnosed with severe PET & HELLP syndrome, I was taken over too delivery suite and they set up a drip too stop me fitting and I was started on blood pressure tablets. We were told that my liver had shut down, my kidneys had shut own and my entire blood system was in the process of shutting down, they were talking about sending me too intensive care & starting dialysis, it was all pretty scary! I was give steroids for baby's lungs. They took bloods every 6 hours too check what was going on, their aim was 24 hours from first steroid injection but they were going too have too deliver if things got too bad before that point
Thankfully we made it too 24 hours and my beautiful little dude (Lucas Alexander) was born at 15.15 on Jan 13th, he was 3lb 11.5oz, he was taken straight too SCBU where he did well for the first 8 hours then required CPAP.
The following day (saturday) I was really ill, I don't remember it much at all, I was so full of toxins. They refused pretty much all visitors but my hubby as I was so ill, they said if they hadn't delivered Lucas the day before then neither him or me would have been here now!)
on the monday they discovered he had a collapsed lung and he was diagnosed with RDS so he had too have a chest drain in, be ventilated & transfered too a bigger hospital with a NICU. He did fab, and at 3 weeks 6 days old he was discharged
He is now 5 weeks old and amazing in every way
He is now 4lb 9oz as of today
