I can't describe how relieved I am now. I've just got back from my appointment with the Dr.

I explained to her about all of my symptoms and that I think I've got PCOS. So we've done my weight and I've got quite a bit to lose. I don't want to go into specific weights at the moment as it's a bit embarassing.

She's taken bloods from me, 3 little tubes of the stuff. I could have cried as I have a major phobia of needles. But, she was lovely, she used a baby needle on me so that it didn't hurt. And she kept reminding me to breathe because I kept holding my breath.

What she's also going to do is look up my last ultra sound scan from 2002 and see what that showed (I can't remember what they said to me about it). And then she will refer me for another scan and will possibly refer me for an internal scan.

She's been brilliant and mentioned that once we know what we're dealing with she will put me on Metformin straight away if it's suitable.

I can't believe how relieved I am that this part of the testing is over and done with for now

It is such a scary thing that 1st visit to the Doctor but when its over you are like why was I so worried about that!

I also have loads of weight to lose! and I mean LOADS! But I know im going to do it, and since being on metaformin Its been so much easier. Stay possitive and you can do it

If anyone knows how long I should be waiting for my blood results to come back? I think my Dr forgot to tell me

Also has anyone else had an internal ultrasound scan, and what should I expect?

Good luck with your weight loss, reckon you will be fine as you know the motivation behind it will be having a beautiful baby.

I called up for my blood tests after 1 week, that's what I am usually told to do anyway.

I had the scan done earlier this year - assuming it's the same one. It was an instrument, I guess similar to when you have a smear which goes in and on a screen you can see your insides and the Dr can see right then and there if it looks ok. I have to admit when I went I wasn't too sure what they were looking for!! It was over in a few mins and wasn't uncomfortable at all.

That's what I had done at my first FS appt. I was terrified when he said " so are you ok to have an internal scan whilst you're here?" and pointed at THAT THING in the corner! Hubby subtley offered to leave me to it lol

Now I am a real baby! I suffered with primary vaginismus for years which means my vaginal muscles contract involuntarily which made sex and smear tests unbearable. I've got over that now from the point of view of having sex, but smear tests are unbearable for me. It takes the nurse about 20 mins and I sob the whole way through, so you can imagine my reaction to the dildocam!

BUT, I can honestly say it was fine - a little uncomfortable and felt as if there was pressure being put on the back of my pelvis, but it was over in a couple of minutes and I can honestly say I didn't experience any pain so there's really no need to worry hun xx

Ha ha Deb - You are right! They showed me in and I asked how they would perform the scan. They started explaining and showed me what can only be described as a massive vibrator!

It honestly doesn't hurt, I'm also a complete baby when it comes to these sorts of things. It's a little uncomfortable but I found it easier than a smear test. They also me my womb and ovaries on the computer, it was really interesting to see. I quite liked that bit!
