So, the whole plan was to have a VBAC this pregnancy after having an EMCS with Pixie but as we all know, things never go to plan in pregnancy do they! :haha: well, not for me anyways!

Wednesday 14th November : 39+5

we went to see the consultant at the hospital to see what the plan of action would be. She attempted a sweep but found that my cervix was high and posterior - it was squishy though and squishy is a good sign  so i got my hopes up that maybe in a few days time i'd manage to get a successful sweep and have a proper natural birth! :happydance: ...

Monday 19th November : 40+3

off to the midwives i go with the hope of a successful sweep! i was so excited because in my mind i was thinking he's bound to be cooked and ready to come out the oven! he just needs a little persuading...

well obviously not! my midwife couldn't even find my bloody cervix! it had gone into hiding. it was however still very squishy there and she said to me there is still a really good chance i will go into labour.
That night i had some really bad backache that started to rap around the front. YAY CONTRACTIONS! this is it! i was going onto labour at long last. I popped off to the loo as i was needing a wee and they stopped. the bloody contractions stopped. i have never been so gutted for dull pains to disappear. Maybe they'll start up again during the night so i went to bed in the hope of them kicking off again.nothing.

Tuesday 20th November : 40+4

went into the hospital at night because i was sure that little mans movements had started to slow down and i hadn't felt him move much in the last 24 hours. we were reassured by being monitored that he was happy enough in there... a bit too happy as when she palpated my stomach he was totally free - not even at the brim! you little monster :baby:

Wednesday 21st November : 40+5

Had a meeting with the consultant again as it had been a week since my failed first sweep and i was told i'd have to come back in to discuss options of induction due to being a previous c-section. The options were that they could try and pop my waters then stick me on a very small does of sintocin or we could go for an ELCS. After all the worrying and the false starts and the fact they didn't want me going over 41 weeks i gave up the hope of my VBAC and opted for an Elective c-section. We were given a date and time... 8am the next morning!! my god, i have a date and time and i'll be meeting this little guy that's been getting comfy (a little TOO comfy) in my tummy oven.

Thursday 22nd November : 40+6
DELIVERY DAY!

so we got to the hospital at 8am and i got changed into my hospital gown, got my cannula in and the consultant (as well as a few other people that would be in theatre with me) came to speak with me on my preferences for the runnings of the c-section. This is the part that made everything feel much more relaxed this time around. I had the option to have the curtain dropped to see my boy being born, everything would be walked through as it was being performed or they would distract me if i preferred, risks and just the general procedure that would take place in theatre was explained too.

toddled through to the theatre and met with everyone in there - everyone was so nice and introduced themselves and made the whole atmosphere feel very relaxed and chilled (not quite the same as an EMCS) before i knew it i was lying on the table and they were about to deliver my baby boy! it just felt like yesterday that i was lying the same place with the same anticipation of meeting my daughter and i was here again - only under slightly different circumstances.

It was time to see my little boy. They dropped the curtain and asked me to squeeze my stomach muscles as though i was going to push a baby out (how i would know how that would feel i dunno :dohh:) but one 'push' and my little man popped his head out and started crying before he was even fully out! :haha: he was just perfect! as perfect as perfect can be.
They took him off to get weighed and cleaned up while i got stitched up and within seconds he was back through and my OH was holding him... little tiny bundle of :cloud9:

Xavier James P____ born at 9:49am weighing in at 6lb 7oz and 47cm long.

I never thought that it would be possible to love a little person as much as i love my daughter but my god i fell in love with him as soon as i seen him. I look at him and just want to eat him up!

he's now 5 days old and has only dropped an oz in weight and is doing really well. such a contented sweet baby :)

So gorgeous :cloud9: Sounds like a stress free delivery, so well done on that :hugs:

Wonderful story Pichi, I knew most if it but to see it all there was great to read. Beautiful boy with a wonderful mum and dad and fab big sister.

Loved the 'one more' bit at the end too.:flower:

Lovely birth story Pichi! :happydance::hugs: He's gorgeous :baby:

I also like the 'one more' bit at the end....maybe third time lucky for your VBAC! Though the planned cs sounds like it was a great experience!

I would really like a normal birth- just the once!

he is going to be 3 weeks tomorrow! I can't believe how fast the time has gone!
