A great video for those having elective sections to show how it can be done. I am going to ask my obstetrician to base my birth plan off this as much as possible - my first was an emergency CS with no skin to skin and definitely nothing like this relaxed approach.

i wish i had had this, how amazing is this! thanks for posting

What a fab video! I'm petrified of having my section for my twins next week, but watching this shows how calm the operation is - I have a fab consultant so i'm keeping my fingers crossed for a birth like this one!

Wow, thanks for sharing! This is how all c sections should be!

Nice. =) I had an emcs and got to hold my girl while they closed me up. Also, I was breastfeeding her in the recovery area less than an hour after she was born. It was great! I wish everyone could have that experience.

that should be routine in all C sections :) Fantastic!!!!
Im going to ask my MW what the policy on natural skin to skin C sections are in N.Z

Apparently there are a few hospitals here who do the "natural" method, including Chch womens, and apparently Wellington Hospital does now as well. I was going to ask my obs next week what the standard procedures are here as I've only experienced an emergency :)

Amazing ~ This is how all csections should be :cloud9:

Im going to write a few of the things on a birth plan, they can only say no, so worth a try :winkwink:

Exactly, it can't hurt to ask! Just because we have sections doesn't mean we aren't entitled to a birth plan :)

Thank you so much for posting this. I gave birth to my son naturally in September but he had already passed before I gave birth so his size wasn't too much of an issue. He was 9 pounds 10 ounces with very broad shoulders and a big head. I loved giving birth naturally so when my doctor told me that we would probably be opting for a c-section before 38 weeks I was disappointed. I have always thought of c-sections to be cold and clinical. This video made me feel better and I am for sure going to ask my doctors to watch this when I get pregnant again. Thank you again...really enjoyed watching this.
