People say kids are expensive... Well so is trying to conceive them! I was thinking about how much I've spent on hpt's and opk's alone. (Over $200 easy in a years span) Not to mention all the teas ,supplements, and any other why not give it try thing. Then you have doctors apts. I want to know where my ttc tax write off is? My insurance doesn't even cover fertility stuff. And I have good insurance! I've bought opk's over milk and bread before. If people only knew. I'm done venting for now. Feel free to jump in on this rant.

its very true and I think there is a lack of government support for people struggling! I think there should be more funding available for fertility in our countries! I hear you girl and I agree with you wholeheartedly.

yup SO UNFAIR! how can you say, my otherwise good insurance, that infertility is not medically necessary to treat?? and i have PCOS! How is that i might possibly spent thousands of dollars while someone just get a free pass? With measly tax help, if at all. Even adoptions get a good treatment for taxes, for now!!

I agree!! We have very good insurance but infertility isnt covered. I have pcos too and they will cover medications for that, but they wont even cover 1% of iui, ivf, or trigger shots! But with my husband being military, i can freeze his sperm before he leaves for deployment (in case he gets his balls blown off or DIES), but i would still have to pay for the IUI out of my own pocket! and heres the kicker, tricare (military insurance) doesnt cover fertility treatments because "having a child isnt medically necessary" but they will pay for a woman to have a BOOB JOB!! Seriously!! All she has to do is go cry to a therapist about how her small/saggy boobs are causing her "low self esteem and depression" and they will pay for her boob job!! same goes for other plastic surgery, just say you have low self esteem because of the way you look and you get put on the waiting list for FREE plastic surgery!

But if a woman says being infertile is causing her depression, she gets put on anti depressants that she most likely wont even take because they arent safe during pregnancy! I tell you we live in a backwards ass world these days!
