We have been ttc for almost 3 years, I have pcos and a short LP, my hubby has a zero sperm count and tomorrow is our 1st fertility appt. Both feeling rather anxious but also want to move forward. It seems though we have everything working against us with what seems like so many fertility issues so uncertain what the Dr will say/suggest tomorrow. We will not be entitled to IVF as I have a son from a previous relationship. We both so emotional at the moment, I was sat crying to a video of my son when he was 3 (he is 7 now) because im so scared i wont get that again. It has put such a strain on our marriage, we barely even bd any more since getting his SA results. Is there anyone out there who has any success stories or reassurance? Feeling so upset and depressed :( thanks for reading.

Just want to say I'm sorry you are having such a hard time at the mo.

:hugs: I'll never understand that rule in the UK that you don't get any funding if one of you has already had a child... although IVF is never covered here in Canada with the only exception being both tubes are blocked. I guess they have to draw the line somewhere?

Anyway... I don't have any success story for you personally but I can say that the lead up to that first appt can be very stressful, but in my case I felt much better once I went. Your doc will make a plan with you and it just feels better that someone is helping you guys out rather than having it all on your shoulders. Good luck.

I'm so sorry. We're dealing with azoo and I just found out I have PCOS-like issues (40 resting follicles, high LH, but I'm not insulin resistant).

We were given the option of donor sperm IUI or IVF/ICSI with TESA with a donor backup.

Thanks for the replies, as suspected we got told theres nothing that can do done for us so we are considering using a donor, tho we are planning on getting professional help in order to make a decision. good luck to everyone x

I found that the infertility psychologist really, really helped us. I left feeling like using a donor was like a 1/2 adoption, plus the gestation would be controlled by me instead of someone who didn't plan on keeping the child.

It took a long time to accept. I had a book that really helped me too. It's called Helping the Stork. It presented the good and bad and had some people's real stories about it too. We have a donor sperm IUI/IVF group in the assisted conception forum if you ever need to talk to someone who is going through some of the things you are.

Best of luck. Be gentle with yourselves, it takes awhile to grieve and then start accepting other options.
