Hi all

I am new to this forum and just wondered if anyone could offer me advice/info/ anything.

Back in March I had a miscarriage, a blighted ovum the doctor said, which is where the embryo doesn't grow much past 2 weeks. Since about July I have been sort of trying but not seriously, although I have an attitude of if it's meant to be it's meant to be, I want this and have been checking my cycle.

Briefly, I went on the pill at the age of 17 as I used to go anywhere from 6 - 8 weeks without having a period. All the time I was on the pill, I could tell you down to the hour when I would start. I have been off it now for 5 - 6 years and went onto have longer periods.

Since March my periods have been different lengths, 31 days, 32 days, 35 days, 34 days, last month 30 days and this month something happened that has never happened except when I was on the pill .... i had exactly a 28 day cycle. The weirdest thing. It was a shock as I had no symptoms at all (except a few headaches a few days before, but that didn't seem odd), no sore boobs, no cramps, no pain, nothing, zilch. NOW, 1 week later, I have sore boobs but that's it, I would say, if I didn't know better, I would be due on NOW!

I have been reading about people having periods when they are pregnant and wondered if anyone can tell me, if this happened to you, what was it like? If you are squeemish please do not read on as I am going to describe my period  as it was different!

It started off for 1 1/2 days very light, almost picky/red, but there was also some jelly type stuff, then for 1 - 1 1/2 days it was more blobs, dark red, but this clear jelly stuff was still in it. Now ladies, we know our bodies, we know the yucky bits our bodies do, and I have to say I have never come across clear jelly in my blood! after 3 days there was hardly anything. No pains, no belly wobbles/butterflies (don't know how else to describe it) when I am due on.

I am 37 1/2 (yes at my age the 1/2 makes a difference), I know your bodies change as we age, has anyone else experienced anything similar? All I can do is describe the whole thing as weird!!!

I apologise for being so frank and blunt in my descriptions but it had to be done. Any info/advice you can give would be sooooo appreciated. Please someone, let me know I'm not the only one who's weird :)

Charlie

:hi: Welcome to BnB!

I am not really sure what advice to give you except for, if you are really unsure I would suggest taking a test. If you are Preg. it would show up with a positive test result. If it is neg. I would talk to your doctor to make sure its not anything else.

Good Luck :hugs:

Thanks Suz, I guess I wanted to find out if anyone had experienced a big change in their period and if there's any advice on how to get pregnant. I was on another forum and after 2 posts I had not one single reply, so thank you so much for not making me feel invisible :) It's hard enough trying to choose the best day to "do it", as assistance products are not readily available where I live. I just wanted to know I wasn't the only one, that's all. I may not have had regular periods but symptoms and feelings have always been the same.

Sorry I don't know any of the abbreviations but at least I get to practice my typing!!

Thank you

Im 32 and I just started to notice that my cycles have gotten a little longer these past few months. But that is the only change I have started to notice.

This is a great place. Everyone is so willing to offer advice and suggestions. Its a bit more Hopping during the day as alot of the members here are from the UK, but It is starting to become a 24 hour site wich is Awesome. Hope you decide to stay! Everyone here is wonderful ;)

First of all, welcome to the forum hun :hugs:

I'm with Suz, it would be a good idea to take a pregnancy test, and if it is a negative then chat with your doctor about the possible reason of why your period was so different this month.

Obviously you do ovulate since you fell preg before (and i'm sorry about your misscarriage hun) but have you had a blood test or have you used OPK's (ovulation predictor kit) to find out if you ovulate every month? If not, chat to your doctor about getting a blood test done each month or just use the OPK's so you know when to bd (means baby dancing hehehe).

That would be my advice on trying to get pregnant quicker. You can either BD every 2nd or 3rd day all the time and you should be covered or you can take the approach of timing with OPK's and temperature charting etc. All this does is help you to know when you're going to ovulate so you can get BD'ing at the most important time.

My cycles are usually 24 days, but occassionally i'll get a 22, 26 or 27 and I once even had a 35! So my body isn't very regular either. Not being regular is hard with timing.

Good luck, and if you have any other questions, fire away because the forum has lots of knowledgable members!

Hi Charlie! Welcome to bnb. I just joined about a month or so ago and am really enjoying it.

I posted a similar post about an experience I had with one of my cycles that was weird. I too had similar clots with one period way back in Feb. It freaked me out and I thought it might have been a miscarriage but there was no associated pain. I stopped bc back in Sept 2006. And my periods have just NOW started to become regular. I went from June 2007-Sept without a period. It scared me and I took pg test, negative! I attribute it to either not ovulating or being stressed...After I finally had a period, I spotted 10 days later...and again spotted 7 or so days later....So you are definitely not alone.

Perhaps your body is just trying to re-adjust since you did have a miscarriage...and perhaps understands what you are trying to do by ttc. If your cycles are becoming longer perhaps the lining in the uterus is building up more so that there is plenty of buildup for the fertilized egg to implant itself.

I am no expert by any means but these are just some thoughts to consider, and I hope it helps relieve some stress you are having about weird periods/cycles recently.

Side note: My mom had me when she was 38 and my sister is 38 now pg and will be 39 when her 3rd baby is born. My mom told me that she had a hard time ttc with me since her periods were really irregular (2 years ttc!). BUT alas, here I am! Happy and Healthy hehe. :happydance:

Best of luck and research online for some options are far as trying to regulate your period. I used holistic remedies to help me with my troubles. For instance I made and drank parsley tea 2-3 times a day for 2 days...and then, ta-dah my period!!!! But you cannot drink this if you are pg...so always test just as a precaution. Primrose essential oil is also good for cycles.

Thank you thank you thank you. It's good knowing you're not alone. I think when you knwo yourself so well and soemthing different happens, you want to know WHY????? Why has it never happened before, why now, what is different????? I really don't think I'm pregnant, I've just never had a 28 day cycle naturally (always long and never knowing), never had this egg white effect (yes I have been reading up on the terminolgy used instead of blunt talk lol) within the blood before , never had the symptoms of the oncoming period AFTER the period, maybe it's cause winter is setting in, I love snow but hate being cold, maybe it's the time of eyar but it didn't happen the last 2 years of being here.

Oh well, if everything happened the same week in week out, year in year out, we would get bored!!

Thanks all for your input, it was greatly appreciated and thank you for the fab welcome :)

I'm also having sore bbs during AF, which is weird... isn't it usually a symptom before AF? I don't usually EVER have it, so IDK. And I also have clear CM with AF, it's weird... maybe the two are related? I've been having cramping & a heavier (than lately) AF, so I'm not thinking I'm having bleeding with pregnancy--just something different going on. Good luck Charlie, figuring out what's going on!

Hi,

my cylces are messes up too. I'm on day 35 now and no sign of AF. for the past 4 months they have been really irregular 37, 39,35 etc. Don't know why its all very confusing.

Welcome to B&B! Can't help with your questions, but wanted to welcome you.

If you're not sure when you're O'ing or when AF is due, I like temping. It tells you all of that (granted, O only AFTER the fact), but OPKs will help you pinpoint when you O (don't do that yet myself...going to give it a few more months - too cheap to spend the money! :dohh: damn accountant's brain!)

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask them - everyone's great here!

Thanks for the great welcome and all the advice you've given.

It is now 5 days since my week of weirdest cycle ever and I still have tender boobs, had dizziness, metalic taste in mouth and felt off yesterday. My boobs have been very sore, almost bruised. I do know that this last period, I had no symptoms of my period about to hit, at all.

Not sure if these signs are just my mind wanting all these things to add up to something. I do know that my period wan't just spotting, it was short as in 3 days and for the middle part it was the bigger clumpy dark red horriblegross bit, but as I said it was the first time I had had the "egg white" bit in the mucus.

I guess all in all it was just one of those freak monthlys and could have something to do with getting older. My mum started the menopause when she was only in her early 30's, I've gone past that mark but it is always in the back of my mind and my bio clock is making such a racket!!!

I suppose we will just have to see what happens next month.

Thanks to you all again xx
