Me and OH are having our 3rd boy, and we have always struggled with boys names. My first sons name just felt right and I love it, but our second sons name was a compromise and now we have run out of ideas.
We both like Finlay but it really doesnt go with oh's surname (Fishwick) and it doesnt sound right at all!

I want a nice, slightly different name, but not one that sounds like weve made it up lol.

So, we both like Theo. Is it a pretentious name? Im worried that it sounds a bit posh (and we are not...AT ALL lol) And does it go with the surname?

Also like Bradley (would it be shortened to Brad? <yuk>)
And Dylan, but wondering if it sounds a bit chavvy? It reminds me of the poet, but a few people have turned their noses up at it.

Please be really honest :mrgeen:

i absolutely LOVE Theo and it is defo a name i will consider if i have a boy. Go for it! x

Hi,

Finlay...i love this, but agree it doesn't flow great with Fishwick.

Theo...i love it, i do see it kind of as a posh name but not in a bad way, i would def use it and we are not posh :). I don't however think it flows with Fishwick great but def still usable.

Bradley...i personally think it sounds a bit chavvy.

Dylan...i like it, i don't see it as chavvy at all.

How about...

Leo
Elijah
Isaac
Oscar
Rueben
Xavier
Jude
Nash
Nate

Hiya, thanks for your reply. I understand what you mean about Bradley. I really really like Theo, and abit gutted it doesnt sound right with OH's surname as there really are no others that feel right. I feel that all the other names would be a bit of a compromise, and I dont want that, as I didnt get the name I wanted for my second son, as me and OH couldnt agree - and I dont want that again. Maybe I should get OH to change his surname lol x

I like Theo and thinks its sounds fine with the surname. It would have been a contender for me if my sisters friend hadn't gone with it first:cry:

Thanks guys.
Just one concern - is it a bit TOO wierd?
Can you imagine a spotty teenage boy being called it? Is it a name that he might be embarrassed about because its different?
Im thinking that a lot of people are thinking of this name at the minute, so there might be a few more Theo's around when hes older :)

Haha, yeah get OH to change his surname!. I know what you mean hun, of course you don't want to compromise. If Theo is what you really want i say go for it. It doesn't sound silly with OH's surname, just not as flowing as others. Go for it hun!. It's a lovely name.

Just wondered, do you like just Theo or Theodore also?

x

I like Theodore too, but if we called him that, he'd just get called Theo anyway. We have an Alexander, but he very rarely gets called anything other than Alex. x

Just noticed your other question...

I don't think its too weird at all.

I think it will suit a baby through to an adult perfectly.

x

Just asked my mum, and she cant imagine a baby with that name - probably a bit like I cant imagine a baby called Gary or Keith. :)
Well I like it!
Does Jack go as a middle name with it? Its a name I've always wanted, but OH doesnt like it. As he pretty much chose my second sons name, *I* am doing the chosing this time :D

Theo Jack? x

i absolutely adore Theodore, that is the name me and my fiance have chosen if we have boy. it wil be Theodore Jewess :)
