Our babies are due home on monday (I am soo excited!!)

We've been advised to get a thermometer to check their temperature and it will help keep me assured they're ok temperature wise. They mentioned one that I can just put under their arm pit but I don't know if this is just a normal digital one? All I can see online is ear ones...are these suitable for premmies?

Thanks!

I have one of the ones that you put in the ear. I didn't buy it until recently so I have no idea whether they are considered suitable for premmies but I can't imagine why not. You don't actually insert it into the ear, just hold it in the opening.

I bought a Braun one on Amazon and I can't recommend it enough. It is so easy to use and, best of all, you can take their temperature easily when they are sleeping. I found this a godsend when Thomas was a bit poorly and I wanted to check his temperature without waking him up.

Congrats on getting your babies home. x

I also have the Braun one and also bought it from Amazon. Its fab.

Also, I just read your journal for the first time and wanted to add that your twins are absolutely gorgeous. x

A simple thermometer from Boots (about £6) does the trick under the arm

I've got the braun ear thermometer, but was advised by the hopsital they are not advised for babies under 1 year old, they would suggest an under arm one.

I'm thinking of this one - what do you guys think?

it doesn't go in the ear but behind it.

Looks good to me. Had a wee quick squizz on google and seems to get good reviews. xxx

The under the arm ones were a real palaver, but I think for younger babies are the most accurate. We got an in the ear one - but only when she was older.

i was also told the ones that work in the ear are less precise for small babies. I use a plain digital one under the arm but sometimes I find it approximate anyway =/

we got given one from the neonatal unit as a going home present but TBH we have hardly ever used it we go to know by looking at Ellie all the weeks in hospital i her temp was ok or not xx
