Think I'm going to have to stop

Well Kaya's down to one or two nursing sessions first thing in the morning, which is fine with me, but the problem is that it's starting to really hurt! My nipples are looking a little cracked/sore and hurt for an hour or two after. Also I think my colostrum has started coming in, not sure if it's related tho. One side's worse than the other so I'm going to stop on that side altogether, but I'm thinking that maybe I should stop completely. The thing is that she seems very attached to that early morning nurse, so I don't know that she's going to be very happy about it.

Hi, hun.

If it's your choice to stop, I understand. But if you want to keep going, maybe get more support and information about why you might be sore?

I have this great website:

www.ibreastfed.com

It's got loads of fantastic info about breastfeeding probs, tandem feeding etc.

All the best. :hugs:

You're body won't be producing colostrum yet. As you have been breastfeeding Kaya already it will just be the normal milk you always produce. I'm surprised your nipples are cracking...is she mucking about and not really feeding? Maybe she's comfort sucking and that's what's causing the painful nipples:hugs:.

I weaned Toby off the breast when I was 4months pregnant with Erin coz I was getting severe cramps when I fed him and I already lost two babies prematurely and had a previous miscarriage too so didn't want to take any chances:cry:. If you don't intend on feeding Kaya after baby is born it may be easier to wean her off the breast now rather than later as Kaya may think the baby has taken her milk IYKWIM?

Good luck babe:hug:

She's not mucking about but I don't think she's getting much milk (my supply has seriously decreased) so she probably is just comfort sucking, not sure how to get her to stop though lol. I thought the colostrum might be starting to come in as I was trying to express a little in the shower this morning and some of if was quite yellow, I didn't think it could come in this early though. I don't have a problem with feeding her once sprog comes, as long as it's only a couple of times a day, I draw the line at any more. Grrr, I just can't decide what's best.
