Go on then!
My first was the toughest and longest by far but the other two were much shorter and very similar although i had to be induced with the third.
My first was 45 hours from first contraction to him being born. I had an epidural at 10cm as he was still high and nowhere near to coming. I pushed for 3.5 hours before I was taken to theatre, given a spinal block and got one chance with foreceps. Luckily he was born and I avoided a section. He was 11 days late and weighed 10lbs 14oz. Born the day before i was to be induced. I had an episiotomy.
My second was 11 hours from first contraction. I was on my way to hospital to be induced when my contractions started so they just left me to it. I had gas and air for the last hour only. My waters went and she was born after 3 pushes about 2 minutes later. She weighed 9lbs 3.5oz and was 12 days late. I had a 2nd degree tear and plenty of stitches.
With my third I was induced but one pessary got things going. My contractions started 3 hours after having it in and after that it progressed very much like my daughter's delivery. My waters went about 5pm. My contractions got more intense but further apart at 10pm. At 10.30pm I was examined and told I hadn't changed from 4 hours earlier, still about 3cm dilated. My contractions then came more regularly and my second son was born an hour later, again after about 3 or 4 pushes. The midwife had gone to run the pool to give me some relief but I had to send dh to get her and she'd only just got the plug in! He weighed 9lbs 3.5oz too and was 13 days late. I had one stitch and a couple of grazes. Slightly disappointed that I only had the gas and air for about 20 mins....i love that stuff!
My recovery with each has gotten easier and easier. I felt like I'd been hit by a train after my first. I felt great but had to be careful with my stitches with the second. This time I have to keep reminding myself that I had a baby 4 days ago as I feel great.
