....that I've not breastfed my baby:cry:

I've been gradually weaning him off the breast as I'm pregnant and have been getting terrible cramps when I feed my 9month old:hissy:. I desperately wanted to feed him until he was at least a year but I have such a poor ob history and go into prem-labour every time, I wouldn't forgive myself if anything happened, especially as my pregnancy is so well established now (this is baby number 6, my 1st two only lived a few hours as they weren't strong enough to survive:cry:).

I'm beating myself up and am crying now....again as I feel sooooooo guilty. I just can't take the chance though can I???????:dohh:

:hug: dont feel guilty - you've 2 babies to think about now. 9 months is a great effort anyway. Have you discussed it with your doc?

Totally agree. 9 months is fantastic, and remember you're doing it for him too - making sure everything is ok with his little brother or sister. So you have absolutely nothing to feel guilty about :hugs: x

Yeah, my consultant and midwife both said it should be ok to breastfeed in pregnancy but with my history I should prepare myself to wean him just in case. The cramps are really quite painful otherwise I'd just ignore it and feed him for longer but it could set off real contractions and I couldn't bear to lose another child:cry:. Got my midwife tomorrow and I think she'll agree that it was for the best:cry:

have you tried expressing? Does it give you the same cramping?

Nipple stimulation for labor should be a lot longer than a typical feed from a 9 mo old. Heck baby aught to be done in 5-10 mins.. no?

Besides, I see you're still in your first trimester... or close to your second. I would imagine as your placenta takes over production of progesterone, you should see the milk production decrease anyway.

I gave up expressing about a month ago as it was wearing me out being pregnant, feeling so sick, feeding Toby and looking after 3 kids...dunno why:rofl:

Yeah, Toby only feeds for a short while but the cramps were quite significant and I had some bleeding a few times too coz this pregnancy was a twin pregnancy but I lost one already so don't want to put the remaining baby in danger as my body still hasn't absorbed the twin...along with my history of prem labour (5 times previously). I think I'll have to just bite the bullet and quit while I'm ahead:hissy:

Dont beat yourself up hun! 9 months is a great time..

And like you said, you have poor OB health and have already had bleeding. It is very important for you to take it easy on your body right now and for the rest of your pregnancy. Especially since one twin was lost.

Pregnancy is hard enough on your body, let alone the extra work your body takes on when breastfeeding. Please do not be upset! Rest as much as you can and be healthy! Your bady and the baby inside need it.

Thanks for that....I needed to hear it from someone else. I'd say the same if it were someone else but when it's yourself....you're a bit "tougher" aren't you?

:hugs::hug:
