Thought we had our name but....

...when i told my aunty what me and OH had decided all she said was that it was a common name and she hated it which has really put me off it now. My OH still really really wants the name but im just not sure. I knew it was a well known name but having someone say it's common just put me completely off it. What is everyones opinion, please be honest. It's Chloe, full name would be Chloe Marie Surdo??xx

I really like the name Chloe. It is quite popular but that doesn't change the fact that is is very lovely & feminine. I think if you like it go for it. xx

I drives me mad when people express such negative opinions when they know people have their heart set on a name!
You'll always find people who don't agree but don't let one negative comment put you off. xx

thank you, i think i will stick with Chloe as my OH does really like the name and any others i have suggested he's always said he likes but likes Chloe more. Also i don't think i will be telling anyone else in the family what name we have chosen now until it's on this birth certificate!! lol.xx

I really like the name Chloe - you will never find a name that everyone likes and people seem to be quite open to voicing negative opinions about names - in the end people usually get used to the child with the name and it becomes them - so go with whatever you choose and ignore anyone's negative opinions.

i personally wouldn't call my child it, but thats my opinion on my children, i dont have a problem on the name and if you anf OH like it use it who cares if your aunt doesnt like it.. its not her child

It's a lovely name, and I don't think it's nearly as popular as it was a few years ago.

I'd say stick with it, and if anyone asks you what you're going to call the baby, say 'Doris' or something.

Like a few people have said before, you will never please everybody all of the time, at least one person is not going to like what you like so to avoid disappointment, like you said, just don't tell anyone until the name is on the birth certificate. At the end of the day, it is not their child it is YOURS & your OH's so it is YOUR decision. Whenever anyone asks if we've thought of a name for our LO yet I just tell them that we have a few names floating about & that we're waiting to see which one suits him when he's born. I think Chloe is a gorgeous name and yes it is a popular name because it is so nice but what the hell does it have to do with anyone else? If anyone does comment negatively on the name you choose then tell them it's a good job they didn't choose that name for their LO then! Nuff said! I'll get off my soap box now!
