So, I think the name Franklin is adorable, and my daughter (age 2) has been saying the baby should be called Frankie (a variation of her original suggestion, Blankie). What do you all think of Franklin? Cute or just frumpy?

And what do you think of these combos?

Franklin August
Franklin Orion
Franklin James
Franklin Benedict?

Our daughter is Penelope Marguerite (she has my middle name because she was born on my birthday). The first three middles have some special meaning: August because DH, DD, and I were all born in August but this baby will be the only one in April; Orion because it sort of evokes my husband's first name and it has a Greek connection to Penelope; and James after my father's middle name.

And do you think Fin or Flynn could fly as nicknames in addition to Frankie?

If DD2 had been a boy she'd have been called Frankie. I love that name so much. We did think about using Franklin and having Frankie as a nickname. I think Franklin James sounds really nice.

I like it
Franklin James is lovely

I think Franklin James flows best but I like Franklin August best as August is an awesome name. I think Fin and Flynn totally work as nn's :)

I LOVE it. I think all the mn combos work fine but my favourite is Franklin Orion. Both names were on my boys long lists, I have two girls.

I have a Franklin 😄, he turned 11 yesterday. I still love his name 💕

Thanks everyone! I don't want people to go "Ew, old man name" when they hear it--if that's what we pick. So far this is our front runner but I want to wait until he's born to be sure.

I don't think of an old man when I hear Franklin. I like Franklin James :)
