We are having a little girl in November but are really struggling with names. Hubby and I just cannot agree.
One of the few names we both like is Emerson.
I really like Emerson Rose or Emerson Grace and it would be shortened to Em or Emmie which we love.

BUT

our only other child (son) is called Addison which we absolutely love.

Is it too much to have an Addison and an Emerson together?

Do you also think Emerson is too masculine? There are lots of Madison, Addison's and Alison's with 'son' endings so am hoping it's not too much naming a girl Emerson.

Thanks

I love Emmie. What about using Emmeline? Then you still get to shorted in to Emmie or Em.
I'm not too keen on Emerson, I like that its unusual, but I like dainty girls names! Thats a personal preference though. I LOVE Emmie! It was on my shortlist but OH didn't want it :(

Sorry, I thought it was a boys name until I read your post again and saw you were having a girl. Emmie sounds lovely though :flower:

I love Emerson Rose -- very pretty!!!!!!!

I have also recently heard of an Emmalyn, which i love too -- just throwing another option out there!

i like it, the Rose just makes it that little bit more feminine and it sounds great with your other daughters name . xx

I like Emmie Rose but at the end of the day hun its yours and your OH choice.

Emmie is absolutely sweeet!!! Emerson is nms exactly because I find "son" ending names a little too masculine but I love really girly names. I think it's very cute with big sis' name together, if you love it, I say go for it, it's not common for sure, and I think it's perfectly acceptable for a little girl, I even say this, it could grow on me :) and once again, the nn is adorable :) Congrats!!

If I'm honest, I'd find it confusing if two siblings had names that similar and ending in the same syllable but were different genders. I think the above posts show that it causes a little confusion. That said, I love Emmy, so how about a long version of that which is a little more obviously feminine? Emily, Emilia, Emma, Emmeline?

Sorry, but I think of Emmerson as a boy's name and my son has a little friend called Emmerson Richard.

If you like Emmie, why not just go with that? Or Emmeline, or Emma?

Also I wouldn't be keen on Addison/Emmerson rhyming like that - I would think of twin boys.

lol - my OH is called emerson..... i'm laughing at him!!!! i love his name for a boy or a girl. his nick name is eme! its really unusual.

and i dont think addison and emerson are too much together, in fact i think that they are perfectly matched.

OH and his brother are called emerson and Lyndon.... i think these are along similar lines. xx

i like emerson for a girl. i pitched it to OH but he didnt like it as well as some others on our list (we had a loooong discussion about names before we came to a conclusion). i think its very cute and the nickname is adorable. and emerson rose is a beautiful combo in my opinion!

as for your son being called addison, i think the two sound cute together. i would say that my cousin has three boys ian, adam, and ethan...sometimes she stumbles over their names when shes flustered, angry, or in a hurry, just because theyre so similar. but i dont think that should keep you from sticking with "son" names... happy name hunting! :)

I love the name Emmerson, for a girl.
Where I am (NZ) Emmerson (Emmy) is really popular for a baby girl. Well I say that as there are two families that I know that have used it in the past couple of years.

And Addison and Emmerson would be fine together. Especially as if you are anything like the families I know, the little girls are always called Emmy.

I like it a lot. Teri Hatcher has a daughter called Emerson Rose.
I usually find names ending in 'son' a little masculine too, but I don't think Emerson is. I would find it a little too feminine on a boy.

i like the name-i dont think its boyish at all:)x
