Time to see specialist? Post-lap

It's been a really long time since I posted or read the forums - I took a break from TTC for awhile. I was frustrated and sad and extremely busy with with work and school and decorating our new place, so we stopped temping and peeing on sticks (though not actively trying didn't result in a pregnancy, either).

We've now been trying since May 2011. As a result of going off bc, my suspected endometriosis got much worse. I went to my doctor (not a fertility specialist) in February to talk about TTC and the endo, and she performed a laparoscopy in May and removed scar tissue and flushed my tubes with dye. I'm now in my second cycle since the surgery. At my follow up, the doctor told me that she doesn't think there isn't any reason I can't pregnant, and that everything now looks fine. She told me to basically chill out and let nature take its course.

But, we still haven't had my husband checked out, and again, though I love my doctor, and she did the tube flushing-thing for me off the record (because insurance would only cover the treatment for endo, not for infertility), I am wondering if we should go ahead and start consulting with a fertility specialist? Or should we chill out and see what happens post lap? Thoughts or advice from any of you lovely ladies would be greatly appreciated.

And, I'm really glad to see some familiar names, though I hope you will all have bfps soon!

Oh - I'm 36, husband is 30.

If your feeling you want a consult with a FS then go for it, you may be told the same thing to chill out and wait but I think you'll be told what options are available to you, your husband will def be tested to make sure he's ok. Best of luck to you

Thanks Crystal. I've been thinking, and I imagine it will take forever to get in to see someone and then to get tests and so on, so I am at least going to try to make an initial appointment. I'm a little more hopeful than I was pre-lap, but I'd hate for another year to go by and then find out it was my husband's sperm count, or something else with me unrelated to the endo.

Best of luck to you as well! :flower:

Have you had any hormone testing done with this doc?
I had many preliminary labs done through a regular gyn, like fsh, amh, prolactin, progesterone, estrogen, mid cycle ultrasound to make sure I was ovulating, antral follicle count, etc.
A regular gyn can do a lot of preliminary tests like this.
If you have already done all this then I'm sorry for being redundant.
Good luck!
