Hi ladies
Well as LO was 12 days overdue I was booked in for induction on Saturday 9th at 12:30pm. We arrived at the hopsital and was immediately taken down to labour ward for monitoring.
I really hoped that the backaches and niggles had meant my cervix was lower after two failed sweeps. However it was still very high and posterior
. The MW insterted the first pessary at 2pm and I was monitored before being taken to pre-natal ward at 4pm. I started pacing the floors with back ache at 5:30ish. I was informed at 8pm that I would be taken back to labour ward for an examination however due to the sheer volume of births I was eventually informed at 9pm that I would be left until morning and OH was sent home.
This is where things become stressful as we had been informed that with induction OH could stay with me but they wouldn't let him He was terrified he would miss the birth. But we'll not dwell on that at all!!!
At around 11:45 am the back pains were still there even though I had been given pain relief. Went to the toilet and just before I got there felt a small gush. Checked pad and was a little liquid mixed with what I would assume was the pessary as it was powdery.
Spoke to MW who asked when I had last been examined, said I hadn't been. She come to examine me as she thought it was my waters that had went. She examined me at Midnight and said cervix was still high but 1 cm dilated and she could feel the waters around babies head. OH rang and asked could him come in, MW said no and that it was take 72 hours plus
Ohh how wrong was she.
I had a bath to try and ease pains as they were coming every 3 to 4 mins and lasting around 40 to 50 secs. Nothing helped. Was given pethedine at 1:30pm to try and help me sleep. By this point OH had moved to hopsital car park and was very upset and distressed that they wouldn't let him in to comfort me.
Tried to snooze between contractions however they were still coming regular and I woke at 2:30 with the urge to push but just thought it was me being silly lol At 2:50 ish I finally hit the buzzer after I thought I had pee'd myself and after having had 4 contractions and needing to fight the urge to push. MW agreed to examine me though didn't think anything was happening but when I moved she said 'Ohh yes your having a lovely bloody show' - bed was drenched lol.
She examined me and said 'Ohhh your 6 to 7 cms dilated I'll get a wheel chair, really fighting urges to push still. She let me ring OH who come running in lol. Was taken down to labour ward at 3:15 am and given gas and air - woooow- my new best friend lol.
I remember not wanting to get out the wheelchair as contractions were coming thick and fast lol. Next I remember MW saying Sarah do you want the injection to help deliver placenta - I nodded lol. Then I heard her say were going to have a baby soon. Then i remember her leaving as someone's buzzer was going. OH though he was going to deliver LO as MW left the room to attend someone else's buzzer but she was reluctant to leave. This is when I badly tore I ended up needing stitches for a 2nd degree tear. Lo was born at 4:05am

And Emillie (Emily) Jayne was born weighing 7lbs 5oz by spontaneous delivery lol
