Hey ladies, well I'm thrilled to be here, 5 weeks pregnant! Lost my first at 9 weeks (after seeing a lovely heartbeat ) but now I'm preggers again, yay, second cycle after mc.

Right what I want to know is are any of you ladies taking aspirin (low dose). I haven't been diagnosed with a clotting disorder and I don't know the reason for my mc last time. My thoughts are that one little aspirin a day can't hurt but not sure whether to start it or not? Maybe dangerous if I haven't got a blood clotting problem? But then if I mc again I'll wonder whether it would have helped....

Any opinions?

X

I've been wondering the same, not sure. Don't think i will, but can understand the temptation to!

Hi ladies ive had to previous mc's and im 5w4d atm when i found out i begged my doctor to let me try something that may help this time so he prescribed me cyclogest. I also asked about low dose asprin and he said theres no proof it works so i said would there be any harm in it and he said no but if you do miscarry you might bleed more. I havent had any tests as they wont help until ive had 3 but im hoping it dont come to that

So im trying 400mg cyclogest
75mg asprin

i self prescribed low dose aspirin. My Dr. says its fine for me to take and is such a low dose it wont harm myself or the baby. I am also on prometrium which is a progesterone supplement as my levels were tested when i got my BFP and they were low/borderline at 8.

I have had 2 early MC prio (one in march and one in april) Thus far i am making progress! I have my first scan tomorrow! :happydance:

I had it after my second mc and while I'm not sure if it was the aspirin
I am successfully pregnant now

Wow! That sounds promising, . Can you take aspirin for entire pregnancy or would you recommend first 3 months only?

Also is there any way of knowing whether progesterone is low through symptoms? i won't have blood test results for about 10 days! I've had a mmc, and last month a chemical.

usually they have you stop taking them right when u hit ur 2nd tri. But you would have to dicuss with your Dr. Some Dr.s allow patients to take it thru their 2nd tri but stop into their 3rd as it will cause alot of bleeding when you go into labor.

there really isnt much way to see if u have low progesterone other than doing a blood test. Although some women with low progesterone have short luteal phases (meaning they ovulate closer to when their period is due and it doesnt give the baby enough time to implant properly).

Thanks Lil J! I think i will give a low dose a go afterall! Pebbles are you going to take it too?

I think I might.... I am worried that if I mc'd again though it would cause more bleeding which would be awful as the first was a proper horror show as it was!!! I will have a look in Boots tomorrow if I get chance.

Must think positive!!! On the plus side I have had stronger symptoms earlier with this one and I know that I implanted at 5dpo and with the baby I lost it was 10 or 11 dpo so I am hoping this one is stronger!

asparin has to be stopped around thirty weeks im confused tho as to what point your suppoused to start takeing it ,i know if the for you to have heparin as well that the heparin starts at 12 wks

its another thimg they use to thin your blood
but it has to be prescribed

My fertility specialist recommends 1 low dose aspirin/day to pretty much everyone, as far as I can tell, unless there's a reason it would specifically harm you. They had me start taking it while we were TTC, and want me to continue through the pregnancy, till they tell me to stop, which I assume will be towards middle/end of 2nd tri.

Hi hun I had 4 miscarriages last year nd had loads of tests which were all normal (clotting was normal but on the upper end of normal). My dr started me on asprin and I am 23 weeks pregnant now! Not sure if it was the asprin but it hasn't done any harm. I'm still taking it and have to stop at 36 weeks. Good luck

Thanks Caz177, think i'm starting to have 3rd MC, its good to see a success after 4 losses.

Hey honey,

Sorry to hear about your loss especially after a heartbeat.

I lost two due to having no heartbeat 2 years ago. Left it for a while and now I'm pregnant again, very hard as you understand. Last time i had a miscarriage they didn't do any tests or anything because you have to have 3 before they do tests on you. So i don't know if i had a clotting problem or not, but the nurse when i last lost one said next time you fall pregnant go to the doctor and ask him to put you on low dose aspirin 75mg so on Monday i went and he put me on it. I'm like you should i or shouldn't i but as i have lost two i thought i might as well give it a go. Hopefully there will be a heartbeat this time but all i want to say is I'm sure the doctor wouldn't have put me on it if there was a chance it could do some damage. I went to the midwife yesterday and she said she never heard about it (Worrying) But she called her boss and she said its fine if thats what the doctors decided to do. Just going to take it until 12 weeks. Fingers crossed for you! xXx
