Hi ladies,

My tiny one has been breech since 28 weeks and has yet to move, I'm now coming up to 32 weeks. Of course there's plently of time for her to shift but my midwife told me to start thinking through the options incase it comes to it. Has any one had an experience of ECV to move the baby into the correct position ? or a c section ? myself and partner are finidng it hard to decide. We're hoping for a homebirth so to have any chance of still having one we'd need to atleast try for the ECV. But I'm interested in your experiences, thank you so much

Sorry ladies, meant to post this under my name.. I keep forgetting to check whether it's me or my partner logged in !

You could look into acupuncture to try and shift bubs head down.
We had lots of luck with Alex and getting him to go head down through just a few treatments.
It ended in c-section though, for different reasons however!

There is still plenty of time. My daughter was breech pretty much all the way through until she turned the right way round at 36 weeks. She actually turned the night before she was born. I didn't do anything in particular to get her to turn, but there is a website, spinningbabies which has lots of advice.

I had decided that if she didn't turn by herself, I would go for a section and refuse an ecv, but that was very much personal choice after a lot of research.

I asked for a ECV for my breech baby. My doctor refused because the baby was big and the risks where too high. Manually turning them can cause uterine rupture. He stayed breech and I had a planned section at 39 weeks. It was not even close to what I wanted, as I was hoping for a natural, no drugs birth. It doesn't matter so much now, even though I was horrified at the thought of a section then. I have to have my next by section in September as they won't do VBACs here. I'm not dreading the next time around nearly as much.

Just make sure you know the risks of ECV before you have them do it.

My sister was put in the same situation but she was 36 weeks and of bubs moving. Although she was petrified to have a c section she still went with it as after researching turning the baby there is a chance the cord can separate from the placenta.

My daughter was breech from 20 weeks right until I had her delivered by c-section. I too had dremaed of having a home birth but when it came to deciding on the ecv or leaving my daughter to move herself, I decided against the ecv only because to me the risks sounded not worth it, I had been warned by my Dr at the hospital that sometimes and ecv can end up in an emergency c-section so that put me right off. I have heard positive cases of ecv working but unfortunately I've heard more negatives than positives, such as where it was successful but then baby ended up turning again just before birth.
Sorry if my response sounds negative but I think it's a big decision to make either way, there are natural ways you can try to move baby though, have a search on google and it should give you some ideas such as acupuncture and there's another calleed moxibustion whihc is an old chinese rememdy.

I hope you can have the birth you hope for in the end though, all the best.
