ok so i normally make all Ella's bottles at night and store in the fridge.. when we go out i put them in a cool bag.. obv here its really hot now and the ice packs warm up quite quick in the bag.. not good if were out all day!

so anyway.. what i wondered was if i just made the bottles with water and put them in the fridge do i still need to put them in a cool bag when i go out if im adding the powder later?

i hope that makes sense!

I may not be a great help, but my DD2 gets toddler formula. heres what I do:
We make up the formula ahead (we use Milk rather than Water though) and put it in a gallon jug in the fridge, then pour into bottles/sippies as needed. Then when we go out, I pop in some ice cubes into her bottle/sippy and away we go!

I found that the ice keeps the milk colder than an ice pack. She only gets 4oz at a time though so that could be why.

This is what we do.

We either usually bring extra water bottles with us or pre-pour the water into the bottle until it's ready to be mixed. Both of my girls prefer warm/hot formula instead of cold so we never did the icepack thing and never refridgerated the water before hand. I suppose the temperature just depends on how your LO prefers her formula. If she likes it cold, bring some extra icepacks, if she likes it room temperature or warm, just grab the pre-poured bottle and go (then mix when needed).
