i have no idea if anyone has been in a similar situation to me, but any advice would be great

my little girl has been really really active, to the point where im struggling to sleep. the past few weeks shes slowed down and 2 days ago now shes been pretty much silent. yesterday i saw my midwife who didnt seem bothered, so i phoned antenatal and told them what was going on. i was told to go in and they put me on a monitor. her heart trace was fine but her activity was minimal. they just said she was sleeping. they took my bp (which is borderline high, but for some reason normal for me) and my pulse, which was a bit too fast.
i was told to go and get some sugary snacks and come back to be monitored again, and she still stayed quiet.
ive had my bloods taken for pre eclampsia, as i have a few symptoms but not much.
the dr i saw last night said because im only 32 weeks, that they wouldnt be aggressive about getting her delivered because its too early and would cause more problems. he said id have to go in twice a week to be checked over and if nothing improves, she might have to be delivered early...

i very nearly burst into tears... i just wondered if anyone has had a similar experience?

:( x

Hi Hun, didn't want to read and run! Unfortunately no experience of this issue so only advice I can offer is to ask as many questions as you need too and if you feel like getting checked over I between visits if you are worried then don't feel silly going straight to hospital...mummies usually k ow best!!!!

Sounds like they are taking good care by balancing keeping her safe in your tummy but being prepared to get her out if needed, I was told with my LO that 34/35 weks is the tipping point ....so as long as its safe for mum and baby they will keep baby in till then, but after that they will deliver if needed.

Take care of yourself and little madam and all us ladies are here xxxx

Hi, although I didn't have pre eclampsia, I had a similar thing with my little girl with regards to being monitored and deciding whether to deliver early. My waters broke at 30 weeks and I went into premature labour, they managed to stop the labour and after keeping me in for a few days allowed me home with monitoring 3 times a week. They wanted to get me to 36 weeks before delivering as long as baby was happy inside but told me I could go into labour at any point. I was really worried about having an early baby and desperately wanted to get to 36 weeks so baby would be a bit bigger. I didn't get there as I went into labour again at 32 weeks, my baby girl was born on 13th August weighing 4lbs and after 2 weeks in SCBU she is now home and doing well. Although it is scary and really tough having a premature baby and spending time in SCBU, at 32 weeks they normally do really well. Have you had steroid injections? They gave me them at 30 weeks when my waters broke and I'm sure this helped my little girl do so well.

I know what I experienced isn't exactly what you are experiencing but I hope I've helped ease your mind a little. They are keeping a close eye on you and as long as baby is happy it is best to keep them inside as long as possible but if she does come early it will just make her extra special.

Good luck. xxxx

Big hugs Holly :)
No advice to give, but im around if you need me x

I found out at 28 weeks 2 days that I was going to have a preemie. They said they wanted to keep her in there for at least 2 more days so I could have the steroid shots to help her lungs. My daughter was born 2 days ago at 29 weeks 5 days and is doing amazing for being so early. I had pre-eclampsia.

I understand the tears. I burst out crying as soon as the doctor left me and told me I was going to have a preemie. I cried after that and also on Tuesday morning when they told me that I would be delivering that day. If you want someone to talk to, feel free to pm me. :)

Dr hasn't done anything about it just yet, I'm having to go back in later. She's moved around a little today but still a bit too quiet.
My blood results showed things were pretty normal apart from low sodium levels and something else was off but I can't for the life of me remember what she said.
Thanks girls x

Have they mentioned doing a scan? Maybe you can push to get one done. I'd think that's what would be needed to tell if there's anything concerning going on causeing her lack of movement and give a better idea of whether she's need to be delivered early or not and then if the chances are high you should get the steroid injections. If it was me, that's what I'd bring up to my doctor. :hugs:

Thanks :) I'm having a biophysical scan tomorrow. I'm so scared... My OH thinks I'm over reacting but I felt like something was wrong for a while. I still can't get over the midwife trying to put me off getting monitored the first time at hospital :s x

Hi, I didn't want to read and run. Not been in your situation my lb was 25 + 5 but different reasons. Your in safe hands. Sending hugs xx

My LO was a mega kicker too--she would deform my belly to the point of pain several times a day. One day she just stopped. I felt nothing the entire day, only hiccups (these don't count as 'fetal movement') and if I really poked and prodded her I'd get a twitch of sorts. I felt that something was seriously wrong.

DH and I went in, had a non-stress (which she initially passed), a biophysical u/s (she failed due to zero voluntary movement, got a BPP of 4/8), and a follow-up non-stress that she failed. Within 10 minutes of the second non-stress our daughter was out via emergency C. She was born at 31+3, still in the NICU, but doing very well considering.

When she was born they discovered the cause of the reduced movement: nuchal/shoulder cord x3. The cord was so tight that it snapped back like a rubber band when they pulled it over her head. It was pretty scary to learn this as the u/s showed good cord flow. Apparently, only in certain positions, the cord flow would get cut off and she'd go into distress. The cord was so tight it never would have come untangled on its own and would have slowly gotten tighter and reduced her blood flow even more until she (likely) would have passed. Don't mean to cause any alarm, but have you asked your OB about any potential cord issues?
