For the past 4 or so days, when Max feeds sometimes the teat collapses inwards. Is this normal?

He does have a strong suck on him, but he's only two weeks old so won't move to a larger teat.

What's going on?

My daughters the same, its because they suck so hard. She was sucking the teat in pretty much from the start and we just lived with it as we were told not to change until she was a month old. We went onto variable flow at 4 weeks, then size 2 at 5 weeks as the variable still didnt give her enough.

New teats normally have the valve stuck shut. Before you sterilise it, squeeze the valve so it opens, and then it should be fine. Do this with all new TT teats.

Level 1 teats from TT have a reputation for being very slow, so if you keep having trouble and it's not that you may need to try a level 2 or variflow (which is suitable from birth).

Can't really say it better than blahblahblah  Make sure the little vents (on the side of the main "body" of the teat) aren't stuck shut. We'd always give them a squeeze after we washed them, before they went through the steriliser. The vent sticking (so not letting air through) is a major cause of TT teats collapsing.
