My little guy is about 5 weeks old. We found out that he was tongue tied when he was about a week old. He'd lost nearly a lbs since birth. We started to supplement with formula but still try to breast feed as well. It seems to take him a while to get latched on both breast and bottle feeding. And because of this my milk supply never really came in fully because he couldn't nurse strong enough. Does any body have any tips to help him latch on? It almost seems like he's just nursing now for comfort, it's so sad watching him try to breast feed.

Congrats on your baby! My daughter had anterior and posterior TTs. Have you had his taken care of? I used to sandwich my boob into her mouth to try and get a deeper latch. Check out Kellymom.com. It's an amazing resource and also has a FB support group. It took us 7 weeks but we're now bfing painlessly. It will get better I promise!

My LO was tounge tied, it was noted at the hospital at birth but we wanted to leave it and see if she managed ok. She fed fine and put on weight however it was causing a lot of wind and making her sick a lot. She had it cut yesterday at 3weeks and hoping that's the end of it. Have yo thought of going this route? It's a quick procedure and apparently most babies are fine and settled after (if I'm honest mine wasn't but that's cuz she couldn't feed as it was all totally different x

Yes, get it snipped ASAP! Ds1 was tied completely and all it took was a quick snip to allow him to latch properly!

I agree with getting it snipped (released). It should make a world of difference. If you already did there is a chance it wasn't done far enough or it reattached (both happened to us). I would also take fenugreek and blessed thistle and maybe look into getting a script for domperidone if your supply doesn't increase. Keep putting LO to breast as often as you can, it will help. The sandwich idea mentioned above helped us too, just kind of squeeze your breast above the areola.

Good luck, it can be so hard, but it is so worth it if you can nurse successfully.

My oldest was TT and bfing never worked out despite all our best efforts, we never had her clipped. My new little guy was born TT and I didn't want any struggles so we had it clipped when he was a day old and OMG what a difference it made! So glad we had it done.
