Ok this may be a really dumb question so apologies in advance

I found some tops in Jojo Maman Bebe that are called nursing tops, I am presuming they have two layers and one pulls up to reveal the breast? Are these the best kind of tops to get for breastfeeding or are there better alternatives? I am shy about my boobs so want to get the best coverage whilst in the act!!

TIA xx

i got tops that were a bit too big so i could tuck her under them until she threw a fit about being covered so gave that one up lol!

There are nursing tops and yes it's like a vest underneath with a top over it.

I dont actually have any though. I tend to dress in layers - same principle as the tops only cheaper!

I find a great item to have are the belly bands you have when preggo. You can wear them round your tummy and they pull up under your boobs. Then you can wear normal clothes but when you lift a top your mid rif is totally covered.

A pashmina and button down tops was what I used in the first instance. Now we are good at it and I can wear most things you might expect and no one notices. I've worn dresses with long sleve tops under and pull the top up and unbutton the dress front and once you get used to it and baby does you can end up where you only get the nip out really. ;)

I think I may invest in some belly bands then, sounds like a good plan to use them! any idea which make are best or where is best to buy them anyone?

I got a 3 pack online from New Look for a tenner! Black, white and grey - so they go under most items of mine.

When I first started I bought a poncho - obviously it was winter so it wasnt obviously a BFing 'item'. I wore it and I could put her up it when I first started going out and feeding in public. It was just a cheap second hand one off ebay - it was from Monsoon originally I think.

I think liftng up rather than pulling down is better for keeping covered up. But when I have 'pulling down' stuff on, I get my black pashmina out, drap it round my shoulders and cover up that way. I just keep it in my change bag.

Oh I also had a 'cape' style chunky knit cardy which was very useful ;)

I have breastfeeding vests from mothercare that I wear under just my 'normal' clothes, I have them in a variety of colours! I also have a few tops from there, although I find that both of the layers lift up!

I bought one breastfeeding top when Aaron was born but it was actually quite fiddly and sometimes showed more than a normal top! I ended up just wearing normal layers most of the time. Now I can wear practically anything and feed without anyone noticing.

Normal t-shirts and tops combined with belly bands are great, or you can pull down a vest top and pull up the outer layer. Cardigans and jackets are useful for a bit of extra cover. I found shirts or things with buttons a bit harder.

I've no advice on the subject but I did see some belly bands in Asda at the weekend - might be worth checking out. I didn't notice how much they cost though.
