This may sound really silly but I've found myself a little confused! I've bought a silver cross 3D travel system, with a newborn, which part should you be using and up until what point?! Obviously when we use the car (a fair bit) she will go in the car seat part, however newborns need to be laid down in the carrycot part right?! Surely that defeats the object of having a car seat attachment on the pram?! If we're taking her out somewhere does that mean we have to take the carrycot section as well as the car seat bit?!

They are not supposed to be in a carseat for more than a couple of hours due to spine development. So I suppose if you're nipping to the shops in the car and know that you won't be too long in journey and shopping then that's when you'd use it on the pram. But if you know you're going to be out longer then 2 hrs then you'd take the carrycot.

We have opted for a combi seat which doesn't remove from the car and can't be attached to a pram, therefore we will have to either use the carrycot on the pram, or use a sling x

Some articles why car seats should stay in cars. The short version is being in a car seat can lower a baby's oxygen levels.

So in answer to your question yes, take the carry cot when your out in the car. IIRC the carry cot for the 3D is just an insert you slot in the seat.
