When did your LO sit "tripod style"? My LO's just over 5 months & doesn't support herself when sitting. She'll sit up in a bumbo or highchair, but won't use her hands for support when sitting on the floor. She just falls forward or rolls to her side. I've tried to get her to practice but she wiggles her butt until she's reclined or laying on the floor. Any suggestions?

my LO has just started sitting by herself and she was like yours and wouldnt use her hands to hold herself or anything. she would push and push to lay back. i ended up just sitting behind her where she couldnt push herself back and when she would get stable and sitting there i would scootch away from her. she has only been sitting for a couple days by herself but can now sit for a good 10-15 mins by herself :)

My LO's a week older than yours and just started trying to use her hands, but keeps forgetting about them and moving them. She also started trying to lean back against something when there's nothing there, whereas before she was leaning forward quite well, so now she's toppling backwards almost every time! I think they'll get the hang of it within the next few weeks!

Wow ProudArmyWife, that's fast progress! I'll stick at the daily practice then, it could be just around the corner!

Tori started to manage last week but doesn't sit for long, but I agree, practice helps so much. It's early days yet at 5 months though so don't worry.

practice is def the way to go :) i was so suprised and excited when she started sitting and still can tbelieve shes only been doing it for a couple of days because she does so well with it. shes still by no means stable enough where i wouldnt sit right next to her but shes working on it :) practice makes perfect right

I found trying things like this on a bed helped, and was safe if baby fell over/

Tripod style started 2-3 weeks ago, now she can sit up pretty well without supporting herself, unless she wants to reach for something or gets a bit too excited!
