Here is my story,
I wanted a baby so bad like all of you here, so I went and had all the regular tests done to check whether everything was fine, and I was ovulating- a test done at Day 3 of Cycle. Everything was fine and I was also taking a prenatal vitamin almost 6 months in advance i'd say, with 2 different pills, one for calcium absorption and the other Iron- Folic Acid. For a whole month I was exercising on a precor machine, eating healthy food. vegetables- salad. Used Pre-seed that time to help with movement.
After that I really forgot about all the 2 week wait and wala.... i got a BFP on the day I was supposed to get my AF. The delivery was a little tough with being induced and so had a 3 -4th degree tear which took 1 hr at the hospital and more office visits to get repaired.
But now after 3 years i'm trying and nothing is working. we have been at it for more than a year, with 4- 5 months of trying consecutively. Had a blood test and ultrasound in Aug 2014, with everything fine except for high cholesterol- 146mg/DL. I did start to jog a little, cut rice totally, but for the junk food and sweets - i can't seem to give up; which i know is a killer.
I was desperate but now i have given up, but not using contraception. I'm still keeping it open.
Has anyone had this kind of problem. Please help and give your suggestions
Thank you

Hey, I concieved DS1 by surprise I was on the pill but forgot the auld antibiotic rule!! So def no problems there! However that was in 2007 I got the Mirena coil in when DS1 was a few months old and had it in for 5 years until we got married and I got the coil out straight way and started trying (Littearly the day after we got back from honeymoon!) Anyway after 6 months nothing happened and after 16 months of messing around and wasting time with doctors who were not specialists and really probably knew less than me. I went to a proper fertility cliinic and discovered based on the all the tests I had done with the other stupid doctors that it was as clear as day I wasn't ovulating. They weren't very happy with DSs sperm either - said IVF with icsi was the only real option but based on DHs results but they wanted me to try tamoxifen and triggers shots for 6 months - I agreed to 3 months of tamoxifen and triggers max as I was desperate at this stage, not only had we been trying 18 months I had wanted a second baby a lot longer than that but we decided to buy a house and get married first little did I know how hard it would be. Anyway, first month couldn't trigger because I had a cyst that nearly broke me but I went ahead the next month got my tracking scans and got my trigger shot but nothing happened second month same thing and bang BFP.

So my questions are

Have you been on any contraceptive that might have prevented you ovulating since your last child
When you say you got bloods taken on CD3 - was that for your last pregnancy? How do you know you are ovulating now?
Has DH been tested??

I can only speak from my own experience but after 18 months it was just that I wasn't ovulating. Once I ovulated I was like a normal person and got preg 2nd try.

We are trying again and after only 2 unsuccessful months, I have started getting tests to check for ovulation. No point waiting.

No contraception at all since i got married in 2007.

I got the tests done on day 3 of cycle just for my information that I was alright and had no problems. And that was in 2010 and I conceived in Aug 2011 using pre-seed.

I used the Ovulating test strips along with a Mentrual calendar app. when i used the sticks i observed that sometimes i would get slight lines and sometimes dark lines, so I am not really sure if I am ovulating?

And in America i'm not sure what works.

What test did the fertility clinic do to check if you were ovulating or not?
Did you have irregular period?

Thank you for your reply.

You can get a very simple blood test with your normal doctors surgery to see if you are ovulating. Its just called a day 21 progestrone test. I did this for months and months before I went to the fertility clinic and I'm currently waiting on my results from last week.

After you ovulate your body produces progestrone (there is almost no progestrone in your body before you ovulate). The blood test is called a day 21 but this is based on normal 28 day cycle.

If you have a longer cycle mine is 30-31 days (but I've had 28 & 35 day ones ) you get it done later so I get it done about day 23-24. Pretty much 7 days after you think you ovulated.

Its normal to have 1-2 cycles where you don't ovulate at all so you would need to get these tests done maybe 3 months in a row to get an accurate result. I did it for 6 months some were a def not ovulating result and some were borderline.

If I were you I would strictly.

Take your temp every single morning before you do anything talking, drinking, weeing anything and not it down, you need a BBT and you can download a fertility friends app to record it. Your temp will dip just before ovulation.

From CD10 onward DTD every other day without fail until you get your period

I stopped taking the ovulation sticks after I had 3 holders at the same time (Don't ask!!) and they would all have different results with the same urine sample!!

Get your Day 21 or 7DPO blood taken. If they come back negative ask for follicle tracking scans, Tamoxifen or Clomid and Trigger shots. Some docs prebscribe Clomid without tracking scans this is really really stupid. My old doctor kept upping my dose without knowing if it was working or not I could have been producing 10 eggs for all she knew, turns out they weren't working anyway, I was pissing against the wind. Insist on a trigger shot (Your DH can give it to you its quite simple) to ensure the egg comes out.

Again that is all just on my experince, but that is my plan now 3rd time round.

Do you have regular cycles? What CD are you now??

I don't know if I am ovulating?

Yes I do have regular periods. My average cycle length is 29 days. Right now I just got my AF on sunday the 17th.

I will try charting my BBT. Maybe that will give me an idea before I can get to a specialist.

Congratulations to you on your 3rd BFP.
