I posted this on first trimester but I think this may be the better place as I'm worried about my bfp due to having a few unsticky beans in the past

I got my bloods taken on Wednesday & only just got full results (hooray for the NHS) but I'm not sure what they mean.

My hcg was 365, which they seem happy with my less than 5 week pregnancy.

My progesterone was at 51.1 miu. What on earth does this mean? Google isn't helping me understand this at all! Does anyone know if my progesterone is ok of not?

Thanks

Rest easy. Your hCG is perfect and so is your progesterone. Here's a chart I found for hCG levels according to week.hCG levels chart during pregnancy

hCG levels rise consistently until around 10-12 weeks of gestation and then they tend to plateau, or even drop off. This is why in the first trimester (3 months) of pregnancy symptoms can be so much stronger and intense.

"hCG levels in early pregnancy usually double every 2-3 days with an increase of at least 60% in every two days. But again, this depends on the individual woman and whether she is carrying one or more embryos. How she as an individual responds to pregnancy and how her body reacts is entirely unique.

hCG levels in weeks from the last normal menstrual period:
3 weeks LMP 5 – 50 mIU/ml
4 weeks LMP 5 – 426 mIU/ml
5 weeks LMP 18 – 7,340 mIU/ml
6 weeks LMP 1,080 – 56,500 mIU/ml
7-8 weeks LMP 7, 650 – 229,000 mIU/ml
9-12 weeks LMP 25,700 – 288,000 mIU/ml
13-16 weeks LMP 13,300 – 254,000 mIU/ml
17-24 weeks LMP 4,060 – 165,400 mIU/ml
25-40 weeks LMP 3,640 – 117,000 mIU/ml
Women who are not pregnant <5.0 mIU/ml
Women after menopause 9.5 mIU/ml

NB It is important to remember that these numbers are intended as a guideline only. They are not definitive and are just meant to give an indication of what can be an average hCG range. Every woman and her pregnancy are unique and what is considered normal for one may not be for another. If you have any concerns about your individual hCG readings then it is important that you seek reassurance from your health care professional."

And here's a website with info on progesterone levels. https://www.baby2see.com/preconception/progesterone.html

Hope that helps!

Thanks dairymomma! :)

I think where I'm getting confused at is whether 51.1 miu is the same as ng/ml because according to the chart I should be in 2nd trimester?

My gp openly said she didn't know what it meant

Thanks again, do appreciate it :hugs:

Hmmm, not sure if there is a conversion between mIU and ng/mL. Guess that chart isn't much help then, huh? :dohh: But if it is the same, I wouldn't worry about your levels being a tad higher than the 'normal' range. That range is just what the average progesterone levels are for the first trimester of a woman's pregnancy and those numbers can vary from woman to woman. Some of us have naturally higher levels and others have naturally lower levels but still go to term. I guess it's just a waiting game then in the end really. Hang in there. Good luck though and I hope this is your rainbow baby!
