Does anyone have this sterilier and had problems with the base inside?

Ours has a black burnt base and when used has white floaty bits in it.
The response from TT was that I had used harsh chemicals on it, when repeatedly telling them all we used was water or boots descaler :dohh: And mothercare are just as useless, despite me saying that the steriliser has a guarantee!
I was thinking that maybe I could just stop sterilising his bottles so I don't have to spend more money on a new one but is that ok to do? I didn't want to stop yet as he's still on 4 bottles a day. Any alternatives apart from wasting yet more money? :nope:

Definitely won't be buying TT again!! :growlmad:

I know its not really any help, but when I had David (he is 10 now so it is a while ago lol) .. I used an Avent steriliser .. I just thought it was normal and didnt stop using it .. I thought it was maybe where I hadnt put enough water in and it had boiled dry.
Are you in the UK .. what about this microwave one .. its from 25 to 10 and free delivery? https://www.amazon.co.uk/Philips-AV...f=sr_1_2?s=baby&ie=UTF8&qid=1326282226&sr=1-2 xx

Why don't you cold water sterilise?

All you need is a bucket/pan/tub and some tablets - about £2 from mothercare and places.

:)

Put a message on tommee tippee facebook page - call them - leave them a message - they will get back to you. I had a similar problem - although clearly not as bad as yours - they sent me a microwavable steriliser as they said that i lived in a hard water area - since then I have received the microwavalbe one - which i haven't used yet as I descaled my electronic one twice - so far so good - and I like you used the boots descaler - I would imagine that mine was because of the hard water - but honestly - it was no where near as bad as yours. They will ask you to send yours back in order to give you a refund xxx

TT were useless, the woman said that I could send it back for testing and then only if they found something wrong with it would they send a replacement. But I'd have to pay out for something while it's being tested so didn't see the point tbh.

How long do the tablets last for? How many sessions do they do?
Thinking of just going buying a new micro one at this rate.

I'm not normally stingy but just kinda annoyed that I bought one that's turned out useless really and having to pay out more when it's not our fault :nope:

Thanks for the suggestions! :flower:

just looks limescaled to me?
very limescaled!

Ours was useless and we ended up switching to cold water sterilization. With Milton tablets you only need change it and clean the tank every 24 hours. It's so much easier and cheaper!
