Hello I new here and have been ttc for 5 months now. I am concerned as since I came off the pill 6 months ago I have been spotting mid cycle every month. I have very regular 26 day cycles and always seem to start spotting on day 16. It varys from brown to pink discharge and seems to last for 8-9 days right upto AF.
I have been to doctors and they have done swabs and are sending me for an ultrasound.
I am concerned about what they might say or if they don't find any reason for it. I really want a baby and am concerned that the spotting will prevent inplantation.

Has anyone else had and experience of this? And has anyone got pregnant with having spotting?

Spotting won't keep you from getting preg. What has caused my spotting before was uterine fibroids. If you have them don't worry. They are so tiny you can barely see them with an ultrasound. They will only cause fertility problems IF they get too big(your OBGYN can let you know). They appear outta no where for no reason, are completely harmless, can disappear as quickly as they come on. Please DON'T WORRY. You can have them removed as well. I've had fibroids for a few yrs and I actually believe they are gone because I no longer spot mid cycle. Keep your chin up :) Relax and have fun :)

Thankyou angel. Im trying not get stressed but its difficult.
Are you ttc?

I also spotted mid cycle for a while. Mine went on for about a year before I finally got checked out. In my case it turned out to be some uterine and cervical polyps- benign growths that were later removed with a surgical procedure.

Even though you've heard from two people who had spotting caused by some kind of growth, there are other things that could cause spotting like a hormonal imbalance. This is probably more likely the case for you since you are just coming off birth control. Ask your doc to check your progesterone levels, which can be easily corrected. Good luck!

I had my ultrasound scan last week and looks like I may also have a uterine polyp. I will go bc to my gp this week to discuss it more. I am keen to get it removed thou as I have read it can prevent pregnancy. Thanks for your help girls.

Hi All,

Just tagging on this thread again as I'm in the same boat and freaking out/looking for something to calm me down.

DH and I have been TTC #1 for the past 3 months, both 26. I spent 9 years on bcps, coming off a year prior to starting ttc.

Like a naive newcomer I was super disappointed when it didn't happen right away. Month 2, I had unusual spotting, it was 5-6 days, and (sorry tmi, red/brown). I was semi-freaked out, I almost blew it off completely - it was early December and we were planning a trip for the Holidays, leaving mid-december, to drive 12 hours with our dog to spend 3 weeks with my inlaws - just figured the stress sent my cycle crazy - but called my doctor because it just seemed weird.

She recommended bloodwork/an ultra-sound just to be on the safe side/since she knew TTC was in our plans. Bloodwork was normal, ultra-sound showed slightly thickened lining, but she wasn't positive of anything as it was taken a point in my cycle where some thickening would have been normal. She thought polyps could be a slight concern, and suggested we do a hysteroscopy, again just to be sure.

So, today, I had the hysteroscopy - for anyone heading that way, the procedure is nothing to be afraid of, discomfort after is 2-3, haha although I am so bloated I literally don't think I could button most pants...

To my surprise, she found (and removed) a "large polyp" - no idea what that means as I was all drugged up, but "large" enough that a D&C wouldn't take care of it so she had to go out and get my DH to sign off on a resection.

And now I'm terrified waiting on pathology/follow up. I have my post-op scheduled in 2 weeks - but I am (1) terrified about the biopsy - I've read the chance of malignancy is very small, but having polyps at 26 is unlikely and how the heck was it "large" but missed on ultrasound? what kind of freak polyp might it be? and (2) very anxious to know what this means for my fertility? and actually (3) the office lists my appointment as 1st post operative visit? does that mean they plan on more?

Anyone able to give me more details on the logistics of how you wrapped this process up? Am I a crazy person to call the office tomorrow or Wednesday?
