I am a vegetarian with dairy and gluten intolerance. So you can imagine that soy has been a big part of my diet.
DH and I decided we were ready to TTC in Nov '13, but had to wait until Jan this year to start, when I had my Mirena IUD removed. Afterwards I had very light bleeding for a week and then nothing.
I was temping daily, taking prenatals, exercising regularly and eating healthy. But nada, zip, nothing for three months.
Recently it was suggested to me that the considerable amount of soy in my diet might be contributing to my TTC troubles. Soy has phytoestrogens in it that I guess can mimic estrogen in the body and screw up a woman's cycle.
Of course I was ready to try anything and cut soy from my diet that day.
Exactly one week later, I got my first period since IUD removal. Coincidence?
My OBGYN did tell me that it takes some women a few months to get back to regular after an IUD, so is it possible that my body just took that long to regulate?
Does anyone else have experience with soy affecting their cycle?
