I'm 37 and have 2 boys from a previous marriage. They are 10 & 12. I had no problems getting pregnant with them, but that was a long time ago. I remarried in July '15, and we began TTC. I have been tracking my cycle for over a year, not temp, but taking notes and using opk. Still no luck. In April of this year, we both had testing done, and all seemed fine...but still no luck. The dr I was seeing was going to put me on a low dose of Clomid, but we moved 3 hours away, and I had to get a new dr. That dr wanted to try me on Pregnitude first. So, I started it in early September on cd25. My cycle was 28 days, which was normal for me(27-29 days). After that, I had a 3 day period, also normal for me. However, this cycle was different. On cd25, I had light red bleeding with a small clot, and then nothing. Cycle lasted 28 days. Then, I only bled for 1 1/2 days. Then very light spotting-peachish. I'm at a loss as to what to think or do now. I'm scared to keep using Pregnitude if it's going to mess my cycle up more! Any input and advice would be greatly appreciated! I'm so frustrated.

Hi Mamamissy, here's some research on what's in Pregnitude:
https://sites.google.com/site/miscarriageresearch/supplements-and-miscarriage/d-chiro-inositol
All it is is folic acid and myo-inositol. Inositol helps with hypergycemia and insulin resistance. Are you over weight? It's meant to reduce the insulin response when you're having meals and control blood sugar. High carb diets can negatively effect egg quality and this is one of the main components of this supplement.

If you're over weight you increase your fertility massively just by decreasing your weight by 10%. In that link that I gave you, there's another section that talks about how weight effects fertility: https://sites.google.com/site/miscarriageresearch/obesity-and-miscarriage/weight-and-hormones
and can produce unknown infertility increase mc massively. Your hormones are locked up in your fat. My bf is a nurse and when my BMI was 30 she said to me I may not respond to IVF. I had NO idea! She explained that most of the fertility hormones are fat soluble and it hinders them from working properly if you're over weight. So I lost 70 pounds to be in the low range of the healthy bmi. I now have a 1 year old daughter with twins on the way (I'm 41 years old). If weight or body fat isn't a factor for you, then I'd be asking that doctor for something a little more aggressive ie Chlomid + iui at this point. I just found it interesting that he gave you this particular supplement and sent you away. Some fertility doctors will refuse to deal with patients with a bmi over 30 as well. Hopefully, that isn't a factor and you can just push him for more aggressive treatments. My friend is in your exact situation, not over weight, and did 9 medicated iui cycles with an ectopic on cycle #6 before she conceived her little boy. Don't give up! You're not getting any younger and with just a supplement and no weight issue, I'd be afraid that he's just wasting my time. Good luck!
