TTC whilst bf?

I'm really after some advice re: ttc again whilst bf.


Our LO sleeps for 11-14 hours per night and I've started introducing solids now too.


Had my first period back in April but nothing since, ovulation monitors say I'm ovulating now but is this just because I'm creating LH through bf?


Any help or advice would be much appreciated xxxxxxxxx

How old is he? I am having regular (ish) periods now she's fully weaned and only having 2/3 BFs a day.

Not sure about the OPKs but I'll be watching this thread as I just got the from my OH to start TTC

I'm curious, too. I still sort of want that 1 year gap, but I also feel fairly enthusiastic about babies in general!
I haven't even had a sign of a period and I'm at 6 mos. I don't want to stop breastfeeding because of TTC, but I am curious how much BF is affecting my cycle.

I'm doing OPKs and I had my surge. The only thing I'd say is keep testing as you can have quite a few +s, because BFing can hold off the egg releasing. The only effect BF has on the LH surge is delaying it x

Oh that's good to know I wasn't too sure, does that mean that when I get opk - that I've finished ovulating? Sorry if it's a silly question but we were so lucky falling of with first ok we didn't have to do any if this xxx

When you get a - you've had your surge, to know if you've ovulated you really need to do BBT (Basal Body Temp) too. A rise in temp after your + OPK will tell you ovulation has taken place

Just wondering if anyone is temping whilst bf?

Been doing mine for a couple of weeks now and it's really erratic, Oscar has woken a couple of nights but I can't see how it would affect my temp this much.

I never knew when I was ovulating when we were TTC Poppy - which is why it took so bloody long!! Am hoping the next one will happen sooner.....

It really just depends on you. Some women are extremely fertile while bfing, some arn't.

Apparently if your cycle is less then 24 days or more then 35 days, that can signify fertility problems.

Thanks. Don't know anything about cervical position and have never had Ovulation pains but I have noticed my CM has increased at around day 14 of my cycle so I am assuming this is a good thing!!! Never used to get this when I was TTC previously and have only had 1 period so far.

sorry to crash i have a question too!!!

stopped mini pill about a month ago now, no period yet but CONSTANT cramping like im going to come on but nothing? plus for the last week i have had ( sorry if TMI ) TONNES of CM? i don't know what this means tho?!

im bfeeding Fred 3-4 times a day again, i dropped a formula feed and he wants more boobie, could this be why i haven't had a period yet?!
