Olivia randomly turns blue, not just the usual hands and feet but all the way up to her elbows, her knees, cheeks and lips and various speckles over her body. Its really quite strange and has happened ever since day one. When mentioning this to people such as HVs before they told me it was quite normal for a baby..

Soo... now she's coming up like 15 months I was wondering just how 'normal' it is and have followed it up with the doctor.

Told the doctor that it happens randomly and can last anywhere from a few mins to like half an hour. It happens when shes sat quiet, running about etc so no real pattern.

Doctor seemed quite releaved at this and advised me that children going blue is usually related to the heart but said as it only happens intermitenly it can only be a good sign, which is also a releif to me.

However the doctor did listen to her chest and couldnt hear any murmours and that her lungs were filling up well. He didnt want to dismiss it just yet as he would like to get it followed up for peace of mind really.

So we have an appointment 2nd april at the hospital to see the paediatrician. dr said they may do nothing or they may send her for a chest x-ray and scans.

Im not too worried as the doctor isnt alarmed but im mad at myself taking all this time to follow it up. Just with the bloody HVs saying its normal

aww I hope they get some answers and its something easy!

I can see how you can be worried, i'd be too!! Hope everything goes well! :hugs:

Hope everything is fine, looks like they aren't too worried so that can never be a bad sign! :)
Maybe it wont seem like forever before April!

I hope they can get to the bottom of this soon. Does her personality change at all when it happens?

I have no clue why she has it, but I hope you find out why and I hope she is ok!

Not trying to scare you but Bethanie was blue/purple a few hours after birth and it was polycythemia (too many red blood cells) and hypoglycemia (low blood sugars)

No her personality dosent change at all to be honest. Its just so random.

Tilly I had a letter when she was first born to advise she was a carrier of abnormal blood cells so I was wondering if that had anything to do with it. It was something to do with hB levels but they didnt want to follow it up with her being so young as it wasnt something they classed as important at this stage.

Im not too worried, mainly because the doctor isnt. If the doctor had seemed worried i'd be going out of my mind.
