My DH and I have picked out Claire Therese (MIL first name) if we have a girl next. My DS is Charles (my dad) Louis (FIL middle name). My MIL and FIL have both passed away- its important to us to honor our parents as we are very close with all of them.

My issue is that my mom isn't included! Her middle name is Lynn and my full first name is kaitlynn. So lynn has already been passed down and I've always wanted to continue that. My mom said she is completely fine with it, but it bothers me.

DH is set on our girls name and won't change, which is okay because I love it. But I would still like to get lynn in if possible. What do you think about Claire Therese Lynn and having two middle name? Or hyphenate it to Therese-Lynn? Do you think it would cause many issues when she got older? Two middle names are not common here so there isn't anyone I can ask IRL. Any advice or other suggestions?

Thanks!

Why not Claire Lynn or Therese Lynn? Two middle names shouldn't cause you any problems and Claire Therese Lynn flows nicely, I wouldn't hyphenate.

I don't usually care for two middle names but when it's meaningful I think anything goes. Especially with a name like Lynn which is short and versatile. I think Claire Therese Lynn sounds fine. :)

Both my girks have 2
Isabelle Rose Iris and Eliza Poppy Georgia
bump will have two also x

I have two middle names, not keen to be honest. They are both meaningful so I get why but it's a mouthful and to be honest I never use them anyway, I never need to write them or say them except bank type forms.
Then again all my sister's gave their children two to carry it on, so I did feel like I was missing the tradition!

All my kids will have two middle names. The reason for us is different though, my OH and I aren't married, so we have different surnames. We both absolutely hate hyphenated surnames, so our compromise is that our kids are having OH's surname as their last name and my surname as their second middle name. That way both sides of the family are represented but without a daft sounding hyphenated last name.

I can't see how it could ever be a problem. It's rare that anyone needs to fill anything out with their full name.

I also have 2 middle names, but I only go by one, and they aren't even after anyone, just two names one my mom really wanted and one my dad LOL!
Why should it be a problem in the future? Second names don't really mean much here to others, it's more of a family/personal thing.

My son has 2 middle names both after people my husband has lost. I felt it important to include them. We will be giving are twin boys 2 middle names also, but haven't figured out what yet.

I think Claire Therese Lynn is nice, personally I wouldn't hyphenate. They're all short names and it flows nicely as is

My husband has 2 after both of his grandfathers. We are thinking of having 2 middle names for our baby girl, after our mums. I think it's totally fine :flower:

My sisters and I all have two middle names, and my sister's four kids all have two middle names. It isn't a problem in the slightest. For one, I never use my middle names for anything really, and if I do have to fill out my "full" name on a form and there isn't enough room, I just put my first middle name and maybe the second name initial if anything.

It's really nice to be honoured in a child's name. My sister has four kids and all the middle names are after family members. When her youngest son was born the only family that had not been honoured was myself (Jessica) and my brother in law's sister (Deanna) so they named their son Easton Jesse Dean. I thought it was very clever and I was very touched!

My son has two middle names and so will this baby. I don't think it's an issue, it's personal choice x

Uma Thurman (the actress) gave her daughter 5 names and they call her by a completely different one - so 6 names in total. Now that's too much lol! X

Zephram We did the same thing, put my surname as a second middle name, it's nice too since my first 2 DS's have different fathers, but both have my last name as a middle name.

So to answer your question, I don't think 2 middle names is a big deal, especially since Lynn is a short one. I wouldn't hyphenate.

Good luck!

Kim

We're thinking about having two middle names but not sure the 2 names fit together, where as your definitely do :).
