WARNING: VERY LONG

Baby Tyler was due Saturday 29th August 2009 but it didnt look like he was going to be at all punctual :dohh:. That evening i sat on the deck and had a nice BBQ and decided to have a couple of small glasses of port .

Went to bed in a grump :growlmad: expecting to have to have another sweep on Sunday.

Woke up at 1am to go for one of the many night time pee trips but was feeling pretty crampy. Got back in bed but was still having cramps on and off at 2am so decided to time them using an app on my iPhone. The contractions were coming every 5 minutes and lasting around 1 minute. My OH got up for work at 4:30am and i said that i was going to try and last out until 7-8am before calling the midwife, so off he went to work. The contractions were then coming every 3 minutes and were still lasting around 1 minute or so. By this point my OH decided it was time to come home (7am) and i called the midwife who told me to go to the hospital and she would meet me there.

Got to the hospital at 7:30am. Midwife checked me and said i was 4cm dilated and that i would be staying . She checked babys heartbeat and it was around 130.. So everything was all good .

Tried out the tub which was nice and helped a little, but the contractions were coming very close together and i was starting to feel like i couldnt cope so tried out the gas and air. I can honestly say that gas and air sucks! It did not take the pain away at all :nope:, just made me feel kind of pissed.

Midwife decided to give me fluid through an IV. Apparently they no longer put the needle in your hand but in your arm.. So that was pretty painful  as it took 3 attempts (I now look like a drug addict with bruises all up my arm!).

Well no one warns you that having your waters broken is absolute agony! I swear it felt like she had both hands up there plus the hook on a stick! I screamed ! Turns out she was using two hands to try and stretch me :gun:.

So now im crying, screaming, complaining that i cant do this and begging for an epidural :dohh:. Midwife checked me and said that i was 8cm dilated and she would get me the epidural. She literally left the room for 1 minute and came back with the anesthesiologist . I have no idea what time it was as i was in way too much pain to even think about looking at the clock. Getting the first needle was to numb the area.. That was a little painful but NOTHING compared to the pain i had been in up until then. The second needle was strange.. Kind of hard to explain what it felt like, just lots of pressure. After about 20 minutes or so after having the epidural my legs started to go numb and the pain was a lot less intense, but the pressure in my butt was crazy. It felt like nothing i had ever felt before and would love to never have to feel again. Babys heartbeat dropped to around 30 at this point and the room was filled with people. I was told to move on my left side/hands and knees/right side etc and eventually it went back up to 70 and then back up to 130.

Midwife suggested that i try and get some sleep  at this point, which i did but kept waking up every so often as the pressure was intense. Eventually she checked me again but she needed me to push my cervix out of the way. The more i pushed the more pain i had in my right hip, but she told me i have to keep trying :dohh:. I couldnt understand how i could have so much pain in my hip yet not able to feel a single contraction . After a lot of pushing and tons of screaming due to the amount of pain in my hip, the midwife and my OH said they could see hair. Im thinking ''yay im nearly there''.. Little did i know i now had 2 hours of pushing to go and the worst pain i have ever felt in my hip. No one could understand why i had so much pain.. All they could do was give me a boost from the epidural, but it didnt work .

Now i have an awful burning sensation in my foofoo and the crazy pain in my hip but i had to keep on pushing. Evenutally the midwife told me to push a tiny bit and stop and keep repeating this... Well she must have been crazy ! I just wanted baby out by this point.

Out came Tyler Jenson B at 17:52. They put him straight onto my tummy and waited for the cord to stop pulsating before my OH cut it.

Then there was a bunch more people in the room all stood around inspecting my lady garden . All i can remember hearing were the words ''third degree tear'' :sad1: and ''operating room'', but i didnt end up going anywhere . A doctor came in and started stitching me back together. It took 2 hours to get all the stitches in and all i can see is this table with a humungous pile of towels drenched in blood.

Tyler was taken over to the scales and weighed (7lb 12oz), measured (51.5cm long) and had all his tests done.

Turns out that he came out with his hand up by his head which could be what caused the agonizing pain in my hip. I guess he just wanted to wave to the world!

He latched on to the boob straight away  and fed for around 25 minutes before crashing out.

But after everything, he is totally worth it and i am totally in love :cloud9:.
