Hoping you can help advise me, I have a muscle condition and during the winter months I struggle with the cold, my hands/feet seize up if too cold, currently I have horrendous chilblains on my toes :(

I bought a good pair of leather boots 2 years ago but they just don't keep my toes warm, I've tried wearing all types of socks too, doesn't work, they are also a bit heavy to be pulling on/off.

So I've been looking at uggs, they are quite popular with all the mums at school, I've never tried a pair on;

Do they keep your feet/toes warm?

Are they lightweight/easy to pull on/off?

Do they have good grip if frosty/icy/snow?

Waterproof?

Do they wear down quick?

Thank you :flower:

I am wondering this too, tbh I've always thought they look quite ugly, and yes lately I've not seen them around as much but there must be something about them that I'm not getting. They are also reaaalllly expensive!

Do they keep your feet/toes warm? Yes!

Are they lightweight/easy to pull on/off? Not lightweight, but easy to put on/take off.

Do they have good grip if frosty/icy/snow? Not really, about the same as trainers.

Waterproof? No.

Do they wear down quick? The fur soles do but the rest no.

ETA I haven't worn a pair since 2010 so no idea if designs have changed!

Why not get a pair of snow boots? I have a pair and it ticks all the boxes you asked about.

I have the Alto Isogrip

If anything, they get a little too warm sometimes.

I am really not a fan of Uggs personally. You'd get a lot more wear our of a pair of snow boots.

I would agree with snow boots too. You can get some really cute ones. I have white ones with fluff at the top.
Tbh I don't think Uggs look very attractive, I think I've seen about two pairs in my whole life that Ive ever slightly liked.

I love my uggs! They're not waterproof but you can spray them to help make them a bit more water resistant. Even still I wouldn't recommend wearing them out if it's pouring down.

I've always got cold feet and they are definitely good at keeping them warm, I basically live in them year round until it's warm enough for flip flops. When it gets too cold again the uggs go back on!

The grip isn't great if it's icy, but I've worn worse.

I don'y find the genuine ones wear down to fast at all, I've had my first pair about 5 years now and there's still loads of wear left in them.

They are easy to get on and off and I wouldn't call them lightweight, but they're certainly not as heavy as wellies or some other boots I've had :)

I don't think they are very good for your feet, very flat, little support etc, therefore if you have a muscle condition then I would think they would not be a top choice.

They are very warm though.

I like the idea of the snow boot suggestions from the other ladies.

xx

I can't wear my Uggs anymore as they're too heavy (have a pain condition) :(

I bought some lovely fleece lined boots to keep my feet warm as I get really cold toes as well. There seem to be some lovely fleecy lined / fur lined boots out there at the moment, I'm considering treating myself to another pair in the sales :)

xx

I think they look awful (sorry) have you tried the proper thermal socks? I Suffer with Reynolds and these help with leather boots x

I don't like them at all.

I wear walking ankle boots that are fur lined around the ankle. If it's particularly cold, I'll wear thermal socks.

I have these:-

I highly recommend them, waterproof & good support (I have a dodgy ankle after breaking it as a kid). They are good in the snow & ice as well as for hiking up the woods/moors.

Thank you all, will keep looking around :)

Do they keep your feet/toes warm? - Yep

Are they lightweight/easy to pull on/off? - I wouldn't say they were lightweight but they aren't super heavy, they're easy to get on and off though.

Do they have good grip if frosty/icy/snow? - Mine didn't

Waterproof? - Definitely not

Do they wear down quick - The soles don't seem to but mine started looking worn quite quickly

I spent a lot of money on some years ago when they were first out because everyone had them and thought they were great but I wouldn't buy another pair now.. not being waterproof in winter was a pain, as I said above they went tatty and worn looking quite quickly, I think this was because in winter you can't avoid getting them wet/dirty which makes them not being waterproof a stupid idea really. However, they were reallyyy warm which is great for someone like me who always has cold feet, they're also super comfy!

To be honest I just bought a £5 pair from tescos bout 3 years ago and they keep my feet warm! I dont both her with them if its raining, but if its just a cold say they're great. I agree with the little support issue though, and wear mine with a second pair of slipper socks to stop them being too big on my feet and causing issues with the support ect.
Not great for all day walking around in but for just popping up the shops if its chilly they're OK, but I wouldn't spend uggs prices for them .

If you buy real uggs especially the ones that gave the zips in so are more like a boot they should be no issues with support.
Yes I find them warm
I have a pain condition and wear them when I'm struggling there easy on and off. I have leather ones as well as normal ones I also have a pair of water proof ones which are very water proof.
I wear these for forest school as were outdoors for hours there really good.

They look better than the uggs I thought you were thinking of.

Xx
