So I've realised that it's only 3 weeks until we go away and I haven't sent his passport off yet!
How long does it usually take for them to come after sending off the application form? I don't want to have to pay loads extra for the fast track service if I don't have to.

I don't think you can fast track a first passport but do the check and send so uou
Know you've made no mistakes....usually you get them back within the same week when it's not holiday season so you should be ok. Just get it sent asap. I got my eldests back in 3 days when I got his first passport.

I think it was just under 3 weeks? That was back in March though, and I know that timescales change all the time.

Good luck!

I would say it was probably 3-4 weeks. If you are traveling in only 3 weeks, definitely fast track it if you can. When there are backlogs, it was taking some people like 6 months to get it processed! It should be much quicker for a first passport, but I wouldn't risk it.

Just over a week at the end of July. Use send and check at the post office.

Babies passport are normally really quick!

Thanks ladies! Think I'm just going to send it normally and hope for the best. The passport office is ages away from me and it's twice the price 😫

5 days in early June. We completed the form on line and took our own pictures and got them tailored to requirements by Passpics. We couldn't do check and send as we'd completed the forms and paid on line already, but it was all fine. Good luck!

You can't use the passport office same day service for a childs first passport, but I would definitely pay to get it fast tracked- think it's less than a tenner? Id pay it.
Ours took 2 weeks.

My lo's took about 2 weeks I was really impressed. Fingers crossed for you it comes back in time

Thanks ladies!

Can you remember if you needed to send any supporting documents? The advice booklet is so confusing!

My niece received her passport in less than a week - last week. Normally, you need to send a birth certificate and your passport (or use check and send in which case you just show your passport). You need to have your baby's photos countersigned.

Thank you! We managed to finally get it sent off on Friday after a load of bother with it. In total we ended up spending £23 trying to get photos and the first application was rejected because the countersigners signature was way outside the box 😧

Fingers crossed it gets back fast!

I ended up using the check and send after all. So glad I did!

Hope it comes in time! One of mine turned up 3 days before we flew lol x

Ours came back within a week but that was possibly this time last year now

Thank you ladies. It arrived this morning. We posted it on Friday but it wouldn't have been sent until Monday which means it took 5 days in total 🙌 7 days from posting. So relieved 😄
