I am 29 weeks now and this is the problem.
This whole weekend baby's movements have been very soft and far apart.
Not the usual kicks to where my shirt moves. They have been subtle. But I've been checking the heartbeat and it's normal. No unusual things just the decreased movement. I do feel the kicks a lot lower now. Almost as if though the baby is bouncing on my bladder. And it feels as if the baby is far back towards my back. And there's an increase in the need to urinate.
I've been drinking water like crazy. And have been taking the anitbotics they gave me for the white blood cells found in my urine on Friday. Could that have anything to do with it?
Should I be concerned with the decreased fetal movement? Even if I can pick up the heartbeat?

Not to alarm you unneccsarily, but I've made a post like this before and at least one lady on here has lost a baby at I think 27 weeks (??). She had decreased movement but the baby's heart was still beating. Once you feel baby move, you should go by movements and not whether you hear a heartbeat. I would say that if the movement is drastically different than the normal pattern then you should get it checked out. Better safe than sorry. Jmo.

It's okay..
I know I've felt movement. Just not the normal movements. It's happened a few times. And occasionally now the baby gives me like two hard jabs and other then that I feel swooshing movements. Ill monitor it for this evening. So far I'm feeling somewhat normal movements but if I feel like it's decreased again ill go in.
Thanks!

I brought this up at one of my NSTs because sometimes I don't even feel my little man's movements but I can see them and the nurse said if you are getting ten in an hour its fine, they go through phases where they are less active or move into positions that make it harder to feel. If you don't get the 10 in an hour, lay down a large glass of ice cold water and count again and if you still don't get 10 to come in.

Thanks!
I'm not counting 10 in an hour but I'm getting at least 5-8 kicks every hour and mostly on my bladder. How's that?

Baby may have turned around and is kicking from the outside in, if you know what I mean, so the kicks don't feel as strong. I also had this every few weeks where baby would quieten down maybe for a week or so and then I'd feel him a lot stronger again. I just figured he was being quiet and sleeping a lot due to growth spurts :)

Okay
That makes more sense
Cause this has happened a few times where days were quiet and baby seemed to have no energy. I just figured since I'm nearing 30 weeks I should be aware of things more but this is my first pregnancy so I'm just concerned withEVERYTHING! It's a curse :(

this happenned to me last week at 26 weeks, baby was super quiet for a few days but then perked up :) I think he/she was having a growth spurt as I seem to have popped out a bit in the days following. My ob said as long as you get 10 movements over 2 hours don't stress, even if they are smaller/softer movements like the other poster said bub may just be in a different position. It's hard not to stress and I was so worried but all was good in the end :)

Thanks!

That's probably fine because they say I only need to count ten even with two babies (probably because its hard to tell who is moving sometimes). The paperwork from my OB is for singleton but says 10 in an hour but a lot of the ones online, and the app I use on my ipod say 10 in two hours. I understand your worry! Besides my two miscarriages this is my first pregnancy and my first two children so I have double to worry about! I have gone to the hospital 3 times already because I got so worried (once was for nothing, the other two I did need contractions stopped). I have thought about going in a few other times but convinced myself I was being crazy lol.

Wow
Thank you ladies so much!
I will make sure I keep a close eye to baby's movements. Hopefully it's a growth spurt my little one is going thru.
How many times did low fetal movement happen with you all?

I had this around 25 weeks and it freaked me out. Went to the doctor's office and they did a scan--baby was head up and moving all over, but I couldn't feel it :) They said this happens all the time--it's just baby's position.

I'm now at 29 weeks and she's head down. I feel almost everything, although some days she's quieter than others.

My doctor said be aware of 10 movements per DAY. If you don't feel that, then drink cold water, lie on your side and count for 10 movements in an hour.

I'm sure everything is fine-but if it makes you feel better to get it checked out, by all means go :) That's what the doctors are there for.

Im confused about the 10 movements in an hour issue. My midwife said to make sure i feel 10 episodes of movement per day and when i asked her if she meant per hour she said no and said she had never heard of this rule. i dont think i ever feel 10 movements in an hour. I usually feel 1-2 episodes of movement per 1-2 hours but not 10 in an hr. confused!

Well I was in a very similar situation last week.

I had been feeling a little under the weather myself, but all day Thursday movements were decreased, and then Friday morning still hadn't felt anything, and he is usually most active first thing. I led in bed for a good hour, and then also tried the ice drink, but still nothing.

I had previously spoken to my midwife as he's worried me before, she told me if I wasn't feeling the 10 movements, and an ice drink didn't do the trick then I must ring the triage unit at the hospital. So this is what I did on Friday morning, completely expecting to just waste everyones time, but thinking that I wouldn't forgive myself if something was wrong.

They asked me to go up to the hospital after asking a few questions, such as was there any bleeding, contractions etc. They put a trace on him and I probably felt about 2-3 movements in the half an hr I was on the machine, but the print out showed about 40 odd movements! So I guess he's moved to an awkward position and this is why I haven't been feeling as much. She did also say I had a high temp and gave me paracetamol, so I'm also wondering if perhaps as I had been feeling poorly this may have been a factor.

Anyway long story just to say it all turned out to be fine, but I think it's probably better just to speak to someone, even if you don't end up going to the hospital. Your midwife should be more than happy to give some advice over the phone. I can even text mine for little queries, and then I don't feel as if I'm disturbing anyone too much, but still get some advice when needed!

This exact thing happened to me yesterday its so scary isnt it. Im glad everything was ok when you went in :flower: I hadnt felt my LO all morning and got in a state over it, tried ice cold OJ etc but nothing. I had an NST done at the hospital which showed him jumping all over but i couldnt feel most of them. Hes turned into a breech position and must be kicking and to the back that i cant feel it.

It's always scary not feeling your LO move. I pretty much go into panic more and I know that's not good for the baby.
Thank you for all your information. It's really helped ease my nerves.
