My pregnancy was very rough and difficult throughout from IUGR to kidney problems of my own to numerous trips to L&D. When babys growth dropped from two to three weeks behind i was scheduled for an induction on May 8th. I was so excited to have my final baby naturally and time flew by to the day of my induction. I had to call before six am to make sure a room was available and it was so had to be there by 7:30 am well of course i had to stop and get breakfast first so got there a little late but they were ok with that. I went in got changed into a gown and got comfortable in bed. At 9:30 am pitocin was started and my water was broken. When i first arrived baby was head down and i was dialated 1 1/2 and 50% effaced. By noon no changes and they could no longer feel my baby and while the monitors showed contractions i didnt feel any pain just tightening. They brought in a prehistoric ultrasound machine and thought they saw baby transverse so they got a modern machine and found he had turned his head was next to my right hip and his feet by my left. I was told i needed a c section as the cord had also wrapped around his neck. I was devestated at the news and broke down into tears. I was given two options for how to go through it be put to sleep or get an epidural. I chose the epidural as it was hard enough that i couldnt hold my baby and that they took him from me. At 4 pm i was taken to the OR and by 4:30 surgery was underway. At 4:40 pm Zachary Herbert made his appearance. He was 4 pounds 11 ounces 18 inches long. He went to the regular nursery with no complications. Later that evening i hemorraged and they had to give me three different medications to stop the bleeding. The next day i was given a blood transfusion to replace the large amount of blood lost i was given two units the following day we both went he happy and healthy.
