I have a period every 37 days and it's heavy for a couple of days out of the 5/6. I do get quite bad period pain.
I carry a bit of weight round my belly and sometimes have a couple of little hairs on my boobs and my lower abdomen.

Are these signs of PCOS?
The doc did say that I had PCOS 10 years ago, but they never did anything about it as they said they didn't need too.

I am due to have a scan in the next week or so,a nd I had an internal today. She said she could feel swelling on my right ovary?
Any thoughts please? x x:cry:

hi hazel :hi:

i have regular cycles, every 28/29 days. i bleed heavy for a couple of days out of the 5/6. the pain is horrendous. i carry weight round my tummy and its always the last place i lose it from. i have some hairy places but not too extreme. i have a stack of cysts on my ovaries and appears i didnt ovulate last cycle. one of my ovaries is bulky. The cysts are enough to cause probs without anything else. the scan will confirm whether how bad the cysts are, they will then do bloods to check your hormone levels hun and whether you ovulate. the scan is straight forward and not painful just uncomfortable. xxx

Thanks for that hun.
I have an underactive thyroid too which is seriously out of whack at the moment. My TSH is 87!! The doctors are in contact with me every day this week as they are monitoring me. x x

If your diagnosis of PCOS was accurate before...then you probably have it. It's technically not curable, as in you always have it, but you can lessen the symptoms to be almost non existent (or totally non existent) and make it so it doesn't affect your fertility.

How can you lessen the symptoms? x

ohh as for your symptoms

My cycles average about 37 days , VERY heavy and painful AF for the first 2-3 days (about 5-6 days long)
The majority of my weight is in my belly (I have always thought I looked pregnant)
I have hair on my belly leading down from my belly button, as well as my upper lip and a couple on chin :(

I can relate to all that, although no facial hair. x

It depends on the person.
For some, medications
Healthy diet and exercising (especially if you have insulin resistance)

Vitamin D has been known to lessen the symptoms. I thought that was what my endo was going to diagnose me with so I did alot of research on it and that is what I found. You probably should incorporate a Vitamin D supplement into your diet.
