Well,

My work have decided I'm at risk, even after doing 4 weekly risk assessments they have now decided I can no longer carry out Manual Handling tasks, Challenging behaviors or be lone working.

I work as a lone worker doing Night shifts with a challenging tenant who suffers from Epilepsy and has drop seizures, as I'am fit for work they cannot punish me so I'am now sat at home on full pay until I'am 36 weeks pregnant when it will transfer to maternity leave.

I don't know whether to be happy or sad, I Know my babies health is priority and it in the long run is probably the best idea, i think im sad because I'm already bored and didn't get to say goodbye to my tenant or the staff i work with .

Iam such an active person, I need a hobby xx

You don't have to be just one emotion! I would look into some different hobbies or something that it'd be okay to do while you're carrying your baby. I'm not pregnant (TTC December 2015 hopefully) but crafting is something I've always loved and it definitely gives you something to do! I hope this at least somewhat helped!

I have to agree, Im slightly angry too as my supervisor who is supposed to support me said I wouldnt manage on a day shift as nights are easy. I was a little cross as I do overtime in the days and I find both equally hard, emotionally - cheeky woman, :growlmad:

I love crafts, I used to make lots of sock animals and sell them but I stopped as work became very demanding maybe i should restart my little adventure, :winkwink:

I wish you lots of luck in December, you have helped alot thankyou :flower: xx

I would love to be off from now on lol!!
All joking aside though I do think it would be so boring. What about taking up some voluntary work? Would you be allowed by your employer? It's their choice to have you off.

I work with an elderly befriending service, meet with an old lady of 89 once a week after work and have a wee chat for an hour. She's housebound with no family. It's so rewarding.
I also do the open uni, how about a course doing something?

How about you come and help me with my uni, volunteering and working, housework etc lol! That's a hobby surely lol (am I chancing my luck...?)

Full pay while at home? That is a pleasant surprise wished I had that lol. I too experienced my work negative outlook on being pregnant they asked me to step down early/July but I ended up just stepping down Feb. My husband is carrying my load now finically sometimes I feel guilty but then I remember the year or months I carried his load working full time. Try not to feel guilty and being paid full time is a perk not many pregnant women like me receive.

I would be thrilled! I don't even get paid maternity leave let alone paid time off during the pregnancy... heck I don't even get paid on days I have appointments. I am sure it will be long and boring, but you will have plenty of time to rest and relax before baby comes!!

Your job sounds pretty similar to mine, my work place has failed to actually give me a risk assessment yet but I am trying to hurry them up with starting them but I reckon they will say something similar as like you I work lone night shifts but with elderly residents who are at risk of falls and obviously I am no help with that whilst pregnant! I highly doubt I will get full pay for it though, I'll probably just have to start my maternity leave early which would be difficult financially and I would be heart broken when I have to go back to work first!

But use you time to get ready for baby, I have a whole list of things that I would love to make myself for baby (bedding such as the crib skirt, a quilt, a blanket, a door wedge, some art work for the walls and a cot mobile) as I can't find ones that match what I want so I would love some extra time off to start working on these projects

I cant believe you ladies dont get paid time off for appointments and maternity :-0 .. now I feel awful even complaining. Unfortunately as iam being paid by my company I cannot do voluntary in another setting withput having a clear rosk assessment to take with me ...

Thankyou for all your kind messages, my sewing machine is being dusted off and the nursery is being eyed up :) xx

Last night hubby suggested I think about quitting my job to start acclimating to being a full time mom. I'm only 20 weeks! Granted im a dog walker and im out about on my feet for most of the day. But still, what the heck am I doing to do stuck at home for 20 more weeks?! I told him I will walk dogs as long as can, waddle or not! :) Can you sew? Make baby blankets or even a felt mobile? Pinterest can be a great idea generator for you!
