Usually, my AF only lasts a few days, when she decides to show up (I have had a few months of no AF here and there, but recently it's been normal), but this cycle has already gone 11 days, and still going. The blood is [tmi] bright red when I wipe, but normal looking on the pad. Also, a few good sized clots every now and then.

Just wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and if it's normal? My SO and I are going to start TTC our first after AF leaves, but it looks like she'll be around for at least another few days.

Thank you!

Have you just come off any form of contraception? It can do weird and wonderful things to your system and I bled for nearly 2 weeks when I first came off the pill after 6 years to TTC DS1. I then had really long cycles and long bleeds for a couple of cycles after that before we got PG.

Good luck with TTC. x

No, I've never been on birth control, aside from 3 months in college to help with acne. But that was 7 years ago.

Next things to think - has there been anything different this month/cycle? Stress such as an illness that you've needed antibiotics for, or even just a lot of stuff on at work/home? Food poisoning or an infection?

I would definitely go and get checked out as you could have an underlying infection causing the bleeding, or it could just be a one-off that will right itself.

I would also say that it may be a good idea to get some iron supplements if you've been bleeding a long time/heavily. It can cause aneamia which won't help. Hope you get some answers soon x

Yah, I've been really stressed with work and moving, and where I work (nursing home) they are on quarantine because of a respiratory illness, and I caught it as well. I didn't know that something like that could cause the bleeding to stick around longer.

An infection can be a 'whole of body' thing, where it effects every system, including reproductive. If you've been unwell your body won't necessarily want you to be pregnant this cycle and may need to do some repair work if y've been very unwell/stressed. Try to relax, maybe rest up and get some it supplements to try to help your body heal and things should come good. I would probably go and get checked, even so you can put your mind at rest if the bleeding doesn't stop soon.

I'm having the same issue!! I have PCOS and I don't get my period regularly. I moved to a new state, from Hawaii to Louisiana, 2 months ago and have been having a hard time finding a job. I got my first period last month for the first time in 4 months and it was a normal period. 2 weeks after that, I was spotting every other day for a week. And now, I've been bleeding for 16 days. It isn't a heavy period, it's light and with clots as well. I have no idea what it could be. And because I have no health insurance, I can't just go to the doctor. I'm wondering if this could be PCOS related? Or something else?
