So we've got a scan tomorrow, to see about her exact position, amount of fluid and whether they would attempt an ECV.
I'm really nervous about it all and the possibility of a c section mainly because of the recovery time.
Does anyone know what the positions are that can be turned with an ECV? The MW thinks she is footling breech(??).
Will they be able to tell me the baby's weight tomorrow do you think?

Also, I asked would the do the ECV right away, the MW didn't know - anyone have any idea?
Husband can't drive so should I get a taxi in case they do it there and then or wouldn't they?

They might check bubs growth if you ask and they aren't busy (I don't know if it's routine to check baby's weight before an ECV so if it is ignore this) but as general they are checking baby's position and whether an ECV is necessary so they aren't obliged to check growth (unless like I said it's part of the procedure). Also with the weight/growth they can be off +/- 1lb either way so it's not entirely accurate it's for a rough guide on those they think are measuring too big etc. Good luck tomorrow hun

Just wanted to say good luck hun! My baby is also breech and if he is still breech in 2 weeks then I also have to have a scan like you and see what they can do. Trying to do things now to help baby move - hopefully it works!!

Thanks, I'll let you know how it goes tomorrow. I keep getting told she is small so if she's very small they'd notice that too, right?

I'm sure they will hun and if you feel you need reassurance then you should definitely ask xx

Just mention something like "I've been told on a few occasions she feels to be measuring small, is there any chance you can do a quick check?" and I'm sure they will help put your mind at ease

Thanks I'll ask them! We know our dates are right so I worry when they keep saying she's going to be very small :/

Hey sweetie,

Try not to worry too much, I went for a growth scan yesterday and was unexpectedly told my baby is an extended breech.

It was such a shock! Both OH and I cried! We want a nice relaxed home birth.

So the ECV is booked for monday, I'll be 37 weeks, and I'm posistive it'll work, I really, really don't want a c-section either!

If I was you and the fluid level and babies growth is ok, give the ECV a go, baby is monitored the whole time during, before and after.

Hope it all goes ok :hugs:

Thanks I think we will give it a go if they think it will work. I'm really scared by the thought of a c section. Good luck for Monday xxx

It's not all about the weight of the baby hun. My niece was only 5lb 6oz full term and didn't even need oxygen or anything. She was perfectly well developed she was just small. She still is - at 4years old she weighs only 28lb. There are babies who weigh 'normal' i.e. 7-9lbs and need oxygen/jaundice treatment so try not to dwell too much on the weight unless told it's because of a reason.

I had a breech bun too and opted for the ECV. I will say it was pretty uncomfortable but I would certainly never advise anyone against it - personal choice, and I understand not wanting to have a c-sec. I really didn't want one! The ECV didn't work and DD was air lifted on her due date. It was a really positive and calm experience so nothing to worry about. Best of luck!

She's definitely breech, she's got a foot right up by her head, another foot out to the side and hands and bum down. Looks so uncomfortable but she's looking really happy and relaxed >.<
Got another scan in an hour to measure the fluid levels then will book ECV if they recommend it xx

Hey let us know what they recommend and heck it sure does look uncomfy in there doesn't it! My LO is head down, bum straight up with legs stretched out! She's sure using all her available room bless her!

Another update, just got home, the second scan was great, they checked all her organs and we could see her little hands and feet and her breathing in the fluid etc. They said she weights 4lb 15oz so not a massive baby but still an OK weight. Fluid levels were also normal and we're having the ECV on Monday. I want to try it, and if it doesn't work we'll book the c section. I hope it works though and she can stay in longer, mainly to gain more weight.
