Had to go to the Emergency room for the second time this week for a serious panic attack...I havent been able to eat....and I cant keep my anxiety/panic under control. I go in to the doctors today for my weekly visit,an they tell me to try Benadry:growlmad: Benadryl is an allergy medicine and im NOT happy at all.im just really upset because my hormones are making the anxiety even more outta whack and causing me to struggle really really bad:nope::nope::nope:

Im also STILL just 1 centimeter and 50% thinned out...ive been bouncing on the ball 3 times a day, doing acupressure, nipple stimulation....EVERYTHING..and ive been at 1 centimeter for weeeeks now. So im obviously done trying. They said if I have any contractions itll get me going..but my body just doesnt wanna contract,so im screwed till I go overdue....ughhh sorry for the rant, its been a really upsetting few days:cry::cry:

I had an ambulance sent out to me because of a panic attack, so i know how you feel - they really are horrible.
& as for telling you to take an allergy tablet, what the hell?!
Keep bouncing & hope for the best! I thought you were getting induced at 39 weeks anyway?

I cant because I just came up positive for Group B Step and it could cause complications that werent already there by inducing me early. And the allergy pills they say have a "calming" effect so they said try it first...im desperate though,I cant live that way...so ill try anything they recommend if it works:shrug::nope:

If you are trying to go into labor I would say try castor oil

Oh that sucks, why are you getting panic attacks? Hope everything is ok! :flower:

Castor oil is really dangerous for both mum and baby not a good idea at all!

You can buy oil of evening primrose tablets that you insert near your cervix that halps soften it.

I get panic attacks too! Only in pregnancy and heart palpitations to go along with it! Its awful I know how you feel.
My doctors we're useless too :(
Hope you can manage to relax bit :) and little man will be here soon don't you worry :)

X

benadryl may be a allergy medication, but can also be used to treat anxiety mildly. just like ventalin is primarily used as an asthma medication, but in higher doses is used to stop premature labour.
as for bringing on labour and your body ready, there is evening primrose you can insert near your cervix as well as raspberry leaf tea and tablets to strenghthen your uterine muscles. these are both reccmended to take after 37weeks. but by all means DO NOT TAKE CASTOR OIL!! sorry to get shouty but vastor oil has major links to severe diarhoea and dehydration for mum as well as bubs passing meconium in the womb which can cause major compoications. castor oil has also been linked to stillbirth and tonic contractions (where the uterus contracts and doesnt let go, meaning no oxygen to baby and immediate emergency c section).
better ways to bring on labour are lots of walks, keep bouncing on that ball and swivelling those hips to get that pressure on your cervix.

overall though, you just need to hang in there because bubs will come when they are ready and try to stay as calm as you can :)

aww hang in there chick, he won't be long! :hugs:

So sorry to hear all of that. I have bad anxiety, I was on meds for it before I got pregnant but had to stop taking them once I found out. Benadryl was recommended to me as well, and honestly I know it sounds stupid but it's not a bad recommendation. Benadryl makes you drowsy so you do feel calmer. Taking 1 knocks me out, the proper dose is actually 2 so if you're feeling really bad, you could even take 2. Unisom was another option given to me by my doctor, it's a sleeping pill that's safe to take during pregnancy... the active ingredient in it is the same as Benadryl, so it does the same thing. Hope you start feeling better soon! :hugs:

To be honest,I have no idea:shrug: it started like 4 weeks ago...and it starts out of no where...and when it starts,I cant stop it:nope: my hands and feet get so sweaty and I cant breath and I feel like im gunna die and it is just horrible and my mind just goes crazy...its worse at night and in the car.and it sucks:cry:

Thanks guys for the responses..im just hoping this doesnt continue long after ive have the baby...I dont want to be put on anti-depressants for anxiety because those tend to cause MORE anxiety..and I cant handle that:nope: To the girls that said you were on/are on medications....what were you taking for it??

ive just been told ive tested positive for group b strep, argh im stressed as it is without having to worry about this too xx

there are certain back massages that can make the muscles in the uterus contract x or you could do what i did was read up alot on my cervix etc no my boundaries and give myself a stretch and sweep 2 times daily. you have to be very careful though as you dont want to cause baby an infection x

also i carry strep b and did with my daughter there is nothing to be worried about, the drip doesnt have to be in whole time during labour xx

I was on 20 mg of Celexa. I'm still on that, my doctor made me feel very confident in the decision to stay on it... said he's delivered tons of healthy babies with mothers on anti-depressants, and it would be more harmful to baby to go off the meds. I was on .5 mg of Ativan, which is an anti-anxiety med. That, I had to stop taking. I have to say, I really really miss it, it was a life-saver in some situations. The Celexa keeps my mood relatively stable, but the Ativan helped with the intense feelings of panic.
As for the anti-depressants, I was really lucky in finding one that worked well for me on the first try, but you're right, that doesn't always happen for everyone. After baby, if you think you need something to help you to calm down, I'd look into anti-anxiety meds... they're also called benzodiazepines. Hang in there! :hugs:

I was given Ativan for a Tachycardia attack last year...they gave me 4 and told me to take them whenever I got anxious but I felt as if they didnt do much....but my anxiety wasnt like this before pregnancy so maybe itd be different. Ive heard Xanax is good,or Valium..but those arent safe while pregnant I know...so I gotta try my hardest to get this baby out so I can function again:wacko: I just always thought Benzos were for sleeping or stuff like that, but I can see where the calming would obviously take the anxiety away

Honestly lovely give the evening primrose oil (inserted into your 'lower regions' before bed - wear clean pants haha! it can go everywhere) and some raspberry leaf tea, at 37+5 i was already 2cm and 100% effaced when the time came to break my waters!

I wish i had some advice for the panic attacks, but im afraid i don't so will stick to giving some :hugs:
