Urgent help needed - making up formula

Hi guys

I was using carton milk apatamil one but I'm fed up of running down 2 flights off stairs to get the carton out if fridge or to put one in! Now I've decided to use powder and make up feeds.

I just wanted to check I'm doing this right I've sterilised the thermos that I'm using!

1.boil kettle
2. Once boiled open kettle lid and let cool for 30min
3. After 30 min put in thermos
4. When feed required measure put water from thermos in sterilised bottle add powder , shake and if needed cool down in bowl of water then feed baby!

Can anyone tell me if I'm doing this right?? Xxx

I use gerber baby water or distilled water. No boiling or anything. Do you have that there? Is it not recommended there?

that is exactly what we do when we're going out for the day. We also have a bottle of boiled cold water for ds so that we can add cold water, or he can have a drink of water if it's hot weather.

Ok phew I changed it today I let the water cool for 10 mins in the thermos to keep the water hit enough to kill bacteria

Yup thats a really good way of doing it. Means you are making feeds fresh, adding powder to hot water, and dont have to wait 30 mins each time for kettle to cool. xxx

The only reason they advice leaving the water for 30 minutes is to reduce the risk or scolding. If you were to put the water in the flask boiling then it would hopefully still be hot for all of the night feeds.

We got fed up with faffing with formula in the night so bought one of those small fridges that fit a couple of cans in. Small enough for the bedroom but big enough to fit a couple of cartons or a bottle in, we tested the temp with a thermometer and it gets as cold as a normal fridge. Our baby takes cartons at room temp so I just add the carton to the bottle when she wakes and remainder goes in fridge.

Hi, hope you dont mind me jumping your post. I plan to use this mrthod. Doyou gind that the water is perfect drinking temp when it cpmesout the flask or do you have tocool it? Sorry sbout errors, new phone lol.
