A few weeks ago, I called to order lunch. Knowing I was pregnant, I asked them if they do or would be willing to heat their meat for like 10 seconds before putting it on my sandwich. They told me no that they don't heat anything nor are they willing to take that time to. I was very upset as I really like to get a sub delivered to my office once in a while. Subway is willing to heat their meat, no questions asked.

Just wrote this as a PSA.

I havent tried their sandwhiches, but never heard of a sandwhich shop refusing to heat sandwhiches up, some people like hot sandwhiches.

thats just seems like pure lazyness! how hard is it to take 10 seconds to do that? Some people now a days are just too lazy.... I would complain to their manager.... theres no excuse for that!

I love Jimmy Johns, and I miss it! I know it's their policy not to offer heated sandwiches, so maybe they're being sticklers, I've considered ordering it with meat on the side so I could heat the meat, and put it back on, but that seems like a pain! I had a dream I had a Country Club the other day :( though My usual is the Turkey Tom

For some reason I don't think they would deliver it like that. I so could go for a no. 11 with no tomato!!! Darn them!!!

Wow that sucks!! They suck then! Most places want business and do anything(mostly) to keep their customer happy. So is subway ok to eat while pg!? cause I think I may get that!

It is actually more dangerous to heat it and then have it cool down below 63 degrees while it is being delivered to you.
Food either needs to be piping hot or properly refrigerated. Their policy might be based on this food safety rule.

No I have access to a microwave so I could heat it but I don't want it touching my sandwich at all before being heated. If they would wrap it up "on the side" then I could take care of it.

Yes! They are willing to heat the meat for you. I haven't had any strange looks or questions. They just pop it in the microwave while prepping the sandwich :).

Ah but they don't know that you are going to microwave it. For all they know you could eat it half hot and then sue them. Hence the policy. Sounds like you would be better off taking the ingredients into work so you can put your own sandwich together. I think you are expecting a bit much of this company to be honest.

In Subway you get the sandwich immediately (unless you get subway delivery of hot sandwiches there). Once you get the sandwich it is your responsibility to eat it while it is still hot. They have sold it to you at a safe temperature.
They would be in a legally difficult situation if they were delivering you something which was not at a safe temperature. So they either need to have the facility to keep it hot (like pizza delivery does) or sell it to you cold.

Yea I just don't get them because even if I went in and asked for it they wouldn't do it. I do carry my sandwiches mostly too work but I do get tired of the same thing and like to have a treat every once in a while. It is sad that every one these days is "sue" happy. I don't think I'm expecting too much of this company to accommodate their pregnant customers!!! They have lost my business for a while if I ever do go back.

Ok so I went home yesterday and asked DH about it (because he spent a summer delivering sandwiches in college) He says that they probably wont heat it because they dont have the equiptment, They do not serve anything hot there, and the bread oven is not allowed to have anything else in it. He said that the one he worked at would deliver the meat on the side if asked, but I suppose that's up to the individual store.

I wouldn't say asking for meat on the side is expecting too much but that's just me. When I worked in the food industry we had to make sure our customer was always happy regardless of what they wanted. I like subway bc u can have it toasted and that takes care of the bacteria :) I personally NEVER liked Jimmy Johns anyway yech. I think it's their bread though? lol
