For anyone in the United States in Pennsylvania who receives welfare, will they cover elective c-section?

I just found out I'm pregnant with my first and I've done my research on elective cesarean vs natural birth and I believe that cesarean is right for me. I just applied for Welfare medical and I'm impatiently waiting to be approved but I'd like to know asap if I can. I won't have any of my questions answered or ultrasounds until I get some kind of medical. :growlmad:

Thank you much!

They probably wont do a C unless medically necessary.

Yes medicaid covers Csections though.

I don't think they will unless it's medically necessary.

Probably not as a natural birth is always better for baby and mom (without a medical reason for one). Why do you want one if you don't mind me asking?

Your biggest hurdle will be convincing a Dr. that you want/need one. I think that medicaid will pay for whatever type of delivery your Dr. decides is best (I was on state aid when I was pregnant with my first- but he was delivered with forcps), but most Dr's will not just do a C-section without a medical reason for it.

Medicaid will cover a c-section if the Dr. says it is medically necessary. Since this is your first and there are no current medical conditions ( big baby, breech ect.) you may have a hard time convincing the Dr. to do an elective. I know that my OB will ONLY do c-sections when necessary.
