Hi ladies,

I need advice and opinions based on experiences!! I had a planned c-section for my ds cause of placenta previa 14 months ago.. I am due for my second ds in 4 weeks, so it's a little over 15 months in between. I've been wanting to give birth naturally all my life, it's something I really want. And also the idea of have a second c-section and having to take care of my 15 month old son pretty by myself cause dh works long hrs, it's not what I want to live!
But anyways, my doctor is supporting my decision but ofcourse she is recommending a c-section again cause it's soon between the 2 and now to top it up, I had an u/s about 2 weeks ago, around 34 weeks and my uterus (LUS) measured 1.5mm so now my doctor is concerned..
Please tell me good and bad stories about vbacs, I need to make up my decision.. Should I attempt vbac after these results?

thanks ladies xxxx

I never knew the thickness of my uterus before my v bac, but I had an emcs with my first and 16 months +3 days later I had a successful vbac. If I would have laboured too long I would have had to have another cs and I wasn't allowed to be chemically induced, but I did have a sweep.

Thats great news!! thanks..
I should have never had this u/s because it doesnt really mean anything, just worries me now cause my doctor is concerned about this..
But I'm glad you had a successfull vbac!! :) congrats!
I have the same conditions, I can't be induced and I can't go into labor for too long
How long were you in labor for and how long did you push?

I had a lengthy time (5 years) between my c-section and my VBac. However, I was induced with a foley bulb AND low dose pitocin. We ended up also using the cook balloons but it WAS successful with no concerns. I'm going for my 2nd VBac with only 1 year between deliveries. I also was never told anything regarding how thick my uterus was.

I woke up at 10 am feeling uncomfortable, and had a NST appointment at the hospital at noon anyway so decided to wait until then to go. When I got there the doctor said I was in the early stages of labour and admitted me. I was in labour for about 9 hours and was pushing for about 20 minutes ....possibly more, I was so tired at that point I don't really remember. Uterine rupture is a spontaneous thing but there can be signs of it about to happen, so someone is always watching the monitors

Great!! you give me hope!! I have a scheduled c-section on my due date so if I don't go before 40 weeks then I won't risk it.. but if I do go before, my hospital is equiped for these types of emergencies so I am not too concerned.. the thing that concerns me the most at this point is having a rupture before I go into labor since my scar is so thin :S
I asked my dr to do another u/s to reassure me.. cause if it's thinner next time, then Ill ask to do a c-section asap!

Hey, sorry for sounding silly but is the reason they don't want you to vbac because of the short time between pregnancies, or because of the ultrasound results showing the thin uterus? Because of your previous c-section?

I gave birth October 2013, 7 months ago and I'm due again October 2014 so there will be 12 months, maybe less between births. But I've never had a c-sec!

They were worried for vbac because it was short time between csection and another birth(15months) then they did the measurements and now thats another concern!
If you never had a csection, theres no reason for you to worry.. Its totally fine

I also didn't know about my thickens. My vbac was very successful and only 14 months after the c section. Like you, i could not imagine having to run around after a 14 month old and having a second c section. The vaginal birth was great! I could move around in no time. She was born at 41 weeks and 1 day. I would do it again!

I also didn't know the thickness of my uterus. I had my daughters 18 months apart and tried for a vbac. Unfortunately, my little girl was not coming out and I was losing a lot of blood due to placental abruption so I ended up with a c-section anyways. I hope everything works out the way you want it to. Good luck!

Well that is great news ladies, one at 14 months no rupture and one at 18 months no rupture either! I wish I wouldn't have done this u/s, I was so confident about vbac until I found out the measurment of my LUS!!
