I just had my 20 week anatomy scan and am now high risk. Not only do I have two complete placentas (one on each side of my uterus), but the umbilical cord goes from the baby, up to my fundus, then splits into two, and goes into EACH placenta.
The high risk doctor says she has never seen anything quite like this. She says im at an increased risk of having a blood clot int he umbilical cord, the baby not growing properly or having a stillborn due to rupture of the umbilical cord. Im terrified honestly.
She says its rare, so im curious if anyone out there has anything similiar going on. After some quick research and hearing how labor can cause the umbilical cord to rupture, I think im going to request them to go ahead and schedule a c-section, esp. since she hinted that I probably would have one as they wont let me go up to my due date.
